With some truly exceptional offerings for recreation, education and entertainment, there’s never a dull moment in New Albany. Our parks, trails, sports and wellness programming are some of the best around, and we’re not afraid to show them off. New Albany Leisure Trail System The majority of New Albany homes are within 1,200 feet of a neighborhood park – a key priority for city planners in the design of our community. This network of parks, sidewalks and trails brings life and vitality to the streets of New Albany. The community’s designers made a point of preserving New Albany’s pastoral appeal
by maintaining more than 600 acres of park land and 900 acres of green space, totaling 45-plus miles of leisure trails for the enjoyment of residents, visitors and Business Park employees. Village Center The results of New Albany’s effort to develop a vibrant Village Center have only become more and more impressive over time. Based on a master plan established in 2006, the Village Center offers a mix of retail, dining, entertainment, residential and office uses, as well as public amenities including the Rose Run Corridor Greenway, all connected by walkable streets and paths. Split into five districts, the Village Center is anchored by Market Square, which has become the community’s main gathering place.

Rose Run Park The result of more than 20 years of planning, Rose Run Park serves as a central connection to the many highlights of New Albany’s Village Center. Features include a sizable plaza for events, library garden for outdoor activities, assortment of kid-friendly recreational components within a wooded glen and trail, streamspanning bridge offering safe crossing between the park and the New Albany Learning Campus, and a bike hub. The first phase was completed in 2019. New Albany Parks & Recreation Providing a vast array of sport and recreational opportunities for adults and children, New Albany Parks & Recreation encompasses more than 200 acres of parkland across three community parks. These recreation offerings, operated by the New AlbanyPlain Local Joint Park District, include 38 sporting fields, as well as tennis and basketball courts, walking trails, playgrounds, pavilions, concession stands and a public fireplace. In addition to regular events such as the Summer Movie Series, our community’s parks – Bevelhymer Park, Thompson Park and Wexner Community Park – offer adult and youth sporting leagues. naparks.org Rocky Fork Metro Park New Albany’s first Metro Park, Rocky Fork Metro Park, opened in 2015, thanks to a partnership between the city, Plain Township, Franklin County Metro Parks and the city of Columbus. The city worked closely with Metro Parks to develop, fund and build the first dog park in New Albany, found at the entrance of the 1,200-plus acre park. Cycling With the city’s continual work to offer more opportunities to both neophyte and experienced cyclists, it’s no wonder more riders in the annual bike ride fundraiser
Pelotonia come from New Albany than from any other community in Ohio. The city is home to some 40 miles of paved bike trails, and is diligently adding sharrows and bike lanes, making

New Albany Tennis Center Part of the community for almost 30 years, the New Albany Tennis Center offers instructional courses for adults, seniors and children in grades K-12. New Albany Symphony Orchestra Founded in 2007, the New Albany Symphony Orchestra presents a musical experience unlike any other. Not only does it bring the community innovative performances and familiar favorites, it also offers sensory-friendly versions of its regular-season performances. Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts Though the concept began as an event space for the New Albany-Plain Local School District, plans for the Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts evolved to become a premier community space for education and the arts. Today, the McCoy Center hosts speakers and performers of international acclaim, as well as local arts and instructional groups. McCoy Center engagements over the course of the year include: The New Albany Community Foundation’s Jefferson Series, with recent speakers including Madeleine Albright, Colin Powell, Fareed Zakaria and Glenn Close. Hayley Gallery
Celebrating its 20-year anniversary in 2019, the New Albany Ballet Company presents ballet lessons from the children’s level to the pre-professional level, as well as classes in jazz, modern, hip-hop and tap dance. From the company’s skilled, highly experienced teaching staff to the annual production of The Nutcracker put on by its New Albany Children’s Ballet Theatre, the organization has enjoyed enormous popularity over the years, leading to new a state-of-the-art studio on Forest Drive in 2016.
Representing more than 65 emerging and established local artists, Hayley Gallery has been presenting diverse work in a variety of mediums since 2007. As one of central Ohio’s premier galleries, patrons are often able to find works inspired by the streets on which they walk every day, helping to demonstrate our community’s strong focus on the arts. Since moving to a new location on Market Street, Hayley Gallery has put local artists front and center for residents and visitors.

Marburn Academy offers specialized instruction for students whose learning differences have made traditional school environments challenging for them. Marburn, founded almost 40 years ago, opened a 64,000-square-foot new home in New Albany in 2017. Enrolling fewer than 300 students in grades 1-12, the private, not-for-profit school has earned accreditation from a variety of prestigious organizations, and has helped children with dyslexia, ADHD, executive function difficulties and similar challenges achieve success.
Charlotte P. Kessler New Albany Library
The Jefferson Series
Located right on Market Square, the Charlotte P. Kessler New Albany Library is a branch of the award-winning Columbus Metropolitan Library system. The library opened at its current location in 2003, following an effort by the library system and the New Albany Community Foundation to endow more than $1 million for book collections and technology enhancements. Offering a variety of reading clubs, story times, job help programs and more, the library is a pivotal part of New Albany’s educational community.
Promoting lifelong learning in New Albany since 2014, the Jefferson Series brings speakers of national and international renown to the McCoy Center to speak on major topics with unmatched insight and expertise. The series, coordinated by the New Albany Community Foundation, has brought such speakers as neurosurgeon and CNN analyst Dr. Sanjay Gupta, former CIA director Gen. David Petraeus and actress-turned-mental-health-advocate Mariel Hemingway.

Serving grades K-6, the Columbus Jewish Day School has been offering an exceptional education to children of the Jewish faith for more than 20 years. The school’s approach to education focuses on rigorous curriculum, social responsibility and showing every child that all their questions and ideas have value. It uses these values to help all of its students discover their authentic selves and be prepared to continue their education at the highest levels.
A joint effort formulated by community leaders and New Albany-Plain Local Schools, the New Albany Well-Being Initiative combines New Albany’s twin commitments to health and education into one endeavor to maximize the wellness of local students. The initiative offers students a vast library of resources focused on drug education and prevention, as well as on mental health and developmental education.
Every year, New Albany-Plain Local School District students organize their own local chapter of TEDx, part of a global series of programs aimed at sharing “ideas worth spreading.” New Albany students have impressed the community year after year with their ambition and organizational acumen, hosting a variety of speakers, including influential community members and standout students from around central Ohio, at a day-long event.

Our nonprofits, service organizations and community-building endeavors cover everything from day-to-day safety to major improvement projects. New Albany Food Pantry Serving families and individuals in need within the New Albany-Plain Local School District, the New Albany Food Pantry invites qualifying individuals
to get their groceries during set weekly hours, as well as by request in emergencies. The pantry is always appreciative of help, and accepts donation of food and money, in addition to welcoming any volunteers. Headquartered at the Lori Schottenstein Chabad Center here in New Albany, LifeTown is a realistic indoor city designed specifically for children with special needs to practice life skills in a fun way. Available to children all throughout

New Albany Neighborhood Bridges Neighborhood Bridges is a program across multiple central Ohio suburbs, as well as a handful in Alabama, that gives residents the opportunity to help neighbors in need. New Albany Pet Rescue is a volunteer group that focuses on preventing dogs and cats of all ages from being euthanized. The organization accomplishes this with a network of foster homes, as well as individuals willing to temporarily board these animals until a foster home can be found. It also accepts donations of cash, collars, leashes, pet food, toys and more.
Part of the effort to continually promote health in New Albany, the New Albany Walking Club organizes group walks, health and training seminars, organized training programs for aspiring racers, and participation in walking-only races such as the New Albany Walking Classic. The club meets year-round, setting out at 7:30 a.m. every Sunday on varying routes through the community, providing opportunities for fitness and camaraderie among participants.
With more than 20 years of history, the New Albany Women’s Network has grown from 10 members to more than 350, and from a general mission of bringing women together to a larger mission of enriching the community through social, charitable and educational outreach. Today, the organization raises money for the New Albany Food Pantry as well as for scholarships, and puts on signature community events including An Evening in New Albany and a charitable fashion show.
