We Need Your Help
Dear New Albany Resident:
As the Executive Director of Healthy New Albany, I’m writing to you for your support during these uncertain times. Like other nonprofit organizations, Healthy New Albany has endured a significant loss of revenue due to the COVID-19 concerns. We have been set back significantly as we have had to cancel our events, especially our races, which serve as a major source of income.
Healthy New Albany has served the community for 10 years with the last five years housed at the Philip Heit Center for Healthy New Albany. We have continued to provide health services and programs that are unparalleled. Among our programs and services are the following. • Farmers markets and community garden • I Am Thriving, a program for women cancer survivors • New Albany Food Pantry • New Albany Walking Classic • Studio 55+ for the older adult population • Wellness retreats • Healthy New Albany Magazine • Cooking classes for kids and adults • Stress reduction classes for kids and adults • Halloween’s Trick, It’s a Treat • Health fairs • And hundreds more!
During the health pandemic, Healthy New Albany has stepped up its efforts to promote wellness for kids and their parents with the initiation of the virtual New Albany Kids Marathon, a collaborative effort with the City of New Albany, the New AlbanyPlain Local School District and Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Read more about the kids marathon and how to participate on page 16. We have opened our food pantry so that no one in our community should go hungry. Healthy New Albany has been communicating with our older adults to be sure they are safe and that their concerns are addressed as best as possible. And the acts of kindness grow every day.
We want to continue to promote a culture of health in our community and serve you as best we can. You can help support our efforts. Please consider making a donation by visiting www.HealthyNewAlbany.org and clicking Donate on the home page. Please know your contribution will make a difference.
Stay well,
Phil Heit, Executive Director
