Site Establishment Works We’ll also be setting up a site office at Beresford Square in the current Wilson Carpark site from 1 December 2019.

Asbestos Removal – August to December 2019 Asbestos testing has commenced in the buildings shown in the green zone above. Testing will continue as tenancies expire and buildings are vacated and will be completed during October. Soft strip and asbestos removal will commence during September and continue through to December 2019.

narrow trench excavated in the ground and supported by an engineered fluid which is later replaced by a permanent material (concrete). Diaphragm walls are typically constructed as a ‘perimeter’ to prevent water coming in. What to expect:

Building Demolition – October 2019 to March 2020

• Impacts will be minimal as these works are all contained within the site.

In late October, we will start demolishing a number of vacant buildings on Mercury Lane and East Street so we can start station construction in 2020.

• The “Top Down” construction methodology means noise, dust and vibration are largely contained within the construction “box.”

The demolition includes Mercury Plaza, and these works are expected to take three to four months to complete.

• Wheel washers and sweeper tractors will be onsite to ensure streets around the site are kept clean.

Understanding how people could be affected by the demolitions enables us to develop robust plans to help mitigate impacts on the local community.

Pitt Street works – March 2020 onwards

We consulted with property owners and occupiers adjoining the demolition area to better understand what activities are taking place in their buildings and how the demolition works might affect those living and working in the area. These meetings helped us to develop a social impact & business disruption delivery work plan and other management plans to deal with the effects of demolition – such as noise, dust, access and parking disruption. The Karangahape Community Liaison Group (CLG) also provided input and the management plans have been approved by Auckland Council.

Mercury Lane works – February 2020 onwards The station footprint for Mercury Lane is still being finalized, and this may impact current project timelines. The site will be gradually closed off from October 2020 onwards and when demolition is complete we anticipate foundation works to commence in March 2020. February: Site enclosure works commence. Site will be set up within platforms and temporary retaining walls. March: Foundation works commence, with diaphragm wall construction. A diaphragm wall (or D-Wall) is a continuous wall constructed in the ground to form an underground barrier or structure. D-Walls are constructed through a

Site set up is planned to commence at Pitt Street in March 2020 for construction of the Beresford Square entrance. Design is to be finalized so these timelines may shift. March/April: Plunging column construction starts. This involves boring a hole, inserting a steel column to act as a casing and filling it with concrete. Excavation then reveals the column. May to July: Diaphragm wall (D-Wall) construction for Beresford Square entrance. Late 2020: The ground floor slab will be constructed over the Diaphragm wall to enclose the site. Work will continue beneath the ground floor slab within the enclosed site. The Super Structure works will commence in 2021. What to expect: • Car access will be maintained – everyone will be able to access their carparking, on the few occasions when this is not possible we will contact the property owners directly to work out alternative access. • There will be some noise and dust, however the use of the D-Wall methodology reduces the amount of these and site controls will reduce the effects further.
