Mt Eden start of works Flower Street

Notification of changes to traffic management & the closure of Flower Street south 20 November

Dear neighbours, We’d like to let you know about upcoming works and changes to traffic management in the area around the Nikau & Flower Street intersection.

Thursday 21 – Friday 29 November 2019: Work to prepare a number of underground utilities, including the Huia 2 watermain, for relocation will start on Thursday 21 November 2019 and continue until Friday 29 November 2019. This will mean reducing traffic on Nikau Street to one lane, with stop / go traffic management in place, and closing the southern section of Flower Street to all traffic. Vehicle and pedestrian access to the De Rohe apartments at 10 Flower Street and properties on Shaddock Street will be maintained via a detour through Nikau Street and Shaddock Street. While traffic management is in place we will be digging investigation holes to confirm the location of underground utilities using a drilling rig and hydro-vac truck. To help minimise the impact to our neighbours, drilling rigs are fitted with an insulated sleeve to reduce the noise and vibration. The site fences also have noise curtains installed.

Monday 2 December 2019 – January 2020: Work to divert Flower Street south and relocate a number of underground utilities, including the Huia 2 watermain, will start on Monday 2 December 2019 and continue into January 2020. This will involve the closure of Flower Street south, with two way traffic on Nikau Street restored. Vehicle and pedestrian access to the De Rohe apartments at 10 Flower Street and properties on Shaddock Street will be maintained via a detour on Nikau Street and Shaddock Street. While traffic management is in place we will be carrying out utilities diversions, relocations and beginning work on the diversion of Flower Street south to create room for the start of the tunnel portal construction in the new-year. Noise, vibration and dust will be constantly monitored to minimise the impact to our neighbours.

Hours of work Normal hours of work will be 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday, and 7am to 2pm on Saturdays.
