• CLG members in attendance introduced themselves.

• MHC welcomed everyone and introduced the meeting agenda.

C2 Albert St contract update – Robyn Findlay

• RF introduces herself • Starts with current staging, notes the C2 main focus is on the public realm works along Albert Street on the block between Wyndham and Swanson Streets • This is due to be complete towards the end of next month (November) • There will be a traffic switch over the next couple of days and pedestrian access is changing • There will be a slight pedestrian detour in front of the ANZ. • Notes asphalt has gone down on one side of the road which will be followed by the other side • Progressing the removal of the steel struts that hold the Albert Street trench open, so backfilling can occur

• Wyndham Street West area almost complete - the works in this area should be complete in the next few weeks but Connectus will need to keep an area fenced off for site storage • RF showed an area of reinstated footpath as an example of what the whole area will look like once complete • Corner of Albert and Swanson Street – construction teams working on installing kerbs on the corner and pouring the concrete footpath in the weekend • Mills Lane – construction teams doing site clearance, breaking up existing footpath and undertaking utility works and will start reinstating footpath • Once one side is done, crews will get to work on the other side • SL asks is C2 keeping ANZ up to date with footpath access to revolving front doors – RF said yes – AS has been speaking with ANZ people about this • SL asks about the indigo development at 51-53 Albert Street - RF said the development has been considered and as such the paving is different in that area. The pavers are being laid on sand, not mortar, to enable easy uplift for future utility connections • CLG attendee asks about the trees going in along Albert Street – RF said four trees will be planted before Christmas, two by the Shakespeare and the other two by the Swanson Street intersection • AMENDMENT: Following advice from the arborist, we have postponed the tree planting until the planting season in mid-2020. Six temporary trees in planter boxes have been introduced in the interim.

C1 Britomart/lower Queen Street update – Nick Adams

• Tunnel boxes at C1 are nearing completion.

• Backfill has started between the tunnels – which will progress east towards the façade of the CPO building.

• By the end of next month, contractors on C1 are scheduled to commence urban realm works in lower Queen Street with utilities/water main works.

CPO building now on new permanent foundations.

• Within station, tunnel ‘break-through’ completed.

• Escalation replacement within the station will commence late this year.

• By March next year, the western edge (approximately six metres in width) of Lower Queen Street will be fully reinstated.

•

The remainder of Lower Queen Street will be reinstatement by the end of 2020 with the possible exception of the north-west corner due to Precinct Properties’ works. Precinct will be given the same pavers to make sure their area of urban realm works looks the same as the area completed by CRL

• Works will then start on the east side and remainder of Lower Queen Street, backfilling work and utilities works with the view to having this complete by December 2020 • By June 2021 we will have completed the plaza area • Once the CPO is handed back to AT the temporary accommodation can be removed • CLG member asked about the paving outside McDonalds – NA said teams will have to work out some staging to make sure paving works don’t impact businesses too much in peak summer times • CLG member asks about trees in the Lower Queen Street area – NA points out that trees will be installed in the area (five pohutakawa trees - 7m tall) the northern most tree that falls in the Precinct area will be installed later by Precinct

• CLG member asks about the Māori Warrior statue – NA states that is also a part of the Precinct area and it will be up to them to replace •

CLG member asks when will the pavement works in front of H&M and the Zurich building start – NA said in the New Year (2020)

CLG member asks what happens to pedestrians during that time – NA said construction teams will maintain access between Quay Street and Lower Customs Street at all times, and peds will be diverted through the centre of lower Queen Street temporarily

• CLG member asks if CRL construction will accidently cut off water again (mentions an incident last week) – BS said there is no intention for that to happen again • CLG member asks about entry way to building in regard to the footpath height – SL said there still will be a slight lip but it will be smoothed out, CRL will try to mitigate any uneven levelling

C1 urban realm – Simon Lough

• Notes artist impressions of the lower Queen Street area on screen • Points out the station and paving pattern and trees • CLG member asks what the space is going to be designated – SL said Pedestrian Mall. Auckland Transport will need to go through a re-designation process to amend the space’s current road designation •

SL says it’s going to be an active safe space with lighting levels appropriate for CCTV

• CLG member asks about the levelling into the driveway off Tyler Street, notes it wasn’t done right last time and cars scraped/dragged – SL said the plan is to keep the levelling all the same and the drainage is going to work fine.

• CLG member asks about maintaining Tyler Street traffic flow – SL said in the future cars can come off Commerce Street and into his apartment building. CLG member asks why this can’t happen now – NA answers, it’s down to construction staging and pedestrian issues

Wider project update + tunnel walkthrough brief - Maria Hernandez-Curry

• CRL construction is finished for C6 Mt Eden storm realignment works • Aotea Station early works underway, starting with utilities investigation • In March, CRL works will block the Wellesley Street/Albert Street intersection • Also at that time building a site compound by the Bledsoe House • Very shortly there will be demolition work in Karangahape • Mt Eden demolition already started • Notes CLG members can get early bird tickets to the tunnel walkthrough
