A KID AGAIN ESTABLISHED 1995 MISSION We exist to foster hope, happiness, and healing for children with life-threatening conditions and their families. COMMUNITY PULSE A Kid Again looks forward to the day that every child with a lifethreatening illness in America can be A Kid Again. We include the whole family in every Adventure we host year round. Our families say Adventures are something positive to look forward to and offer a distraction from routine medical care. Whether a child is battling an all too common disease like cancer, or a rare disease like Hunter Syndrome, they ALL deserve to be a kid again.

A SPECIAL WISH
FOUNDATION, INC. ESTABLISHED 1982 MISSION To enhance the quality of life for those children having a life-threatening disorder by granting their special wish. COMMUNITY PULSE A Special Wish Foundation is dedicated to granting the wishes of children under the age of 21 who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening disorder. In fact, it is estimated that over 30,000 children in Ohio alone suffer from terminal illnesses. In almost 40 years, ASW has never turned away a qualifying wish in the state of Ohio. The three main types of wishes are a "special" gift, a "special" hero, or a "special" place, and the average wish costs $4000.

AMERICAN CANCER
SOCIETY ESTABLISHED 1913 MISSION The mission of the American Cancer Society is to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight to a world without cancer. COMMUNITY PULSE The American Cancer Society has a national presence, but is also local right here in our Columbus community. Columbus currently has over $14 million in ACS research grants at OSU and Nationwide Children's Hospital. We also provide patient services, such as free transportation to treatment, free or reduced lodging when receiving treatment, and a 24/7 hotline available to survivors, caregivers, or anyone with questions surrounding cancer. BREATHE COLUMBUS ESTABLISHED 2020 MISSION BREATHE is an acronym for our mission: Take a deep BREATH as we destroy RACISM and ERADICATE the police abuse and societal TRAUMA in order to HEAL as a nation for what we have ENDURED for way too long. BREATHE. COMMUNITY PULSE BREATHE Columbus is a volunteer nonprofit organization founded by Rita Fuller Yates in June of 2020 following the lynching of George Floyd to address the social injustices against Black and Brown people in America. COMMUNITY FOR NEW
DIRECTION (CND) ESTABLISHED 1989 MISSION Through innovative programs and positive relationships, CND empowers individuals to achieve their potential. COMMUNITY PULSE In 1989, Community for New Direction (CND) began as a volunteer-run program providing positive mentoring and prevention programming to high-risk youth. Too many kids were dropping out of high school and turning to drugs, alcohol, gang activities and crime. Today, CND also works with the City of Columbus as a partner in the APPS violence intervention and provides outpatient mental health and substance use disorder treatment services for adults, which includes an all-male Recovery House.

YOUTH & FAMILIES ESTABLISHED 1899 MISSION Build and inspire hope, healing, and resilience for youth, families and communities through counseling and education. COMMUNITY PULSE Directions for Youth & Families provides counseling services and prevention programs to central Ohio that specialize in issues such as sexual abuse / violence, mental and behavioral health, physical abuse / neglect and grief / loss. We operate two after-school summer youth centers that provide a safe haven during hours when youth are most at risk for self-defeating and delinquent behaviors. 96% of our services are provided at no cost. FURNITURE BANK OF
CENTRAL OHIO ESTABLISHED 1998 MISSION Dedicated to reducing the impact of poverty by providing furniture to central Ohio families and individuals struggling with severe life challenges. COMMUNITY PULSE We believe all central Ohio families deserve to live in a furnished, safe home and experience the precious family moments a home can provide. With the help of 75+ community partners, 8,000+ furniture and financial donors, and 2,000+ volunteers, 3,500 local families visit the Furniture Bank every year to select their own beds, tables, couches, dressers, and other furniture items. But to a family in need, it’s more than furniture - it’s hope, comfort, stability, and a future.

ARTS COUNCIL ESTABLISHED 1970 MISSION To support and advance the arts and cultural fabric of Columbus. COMMUNITY PULSE The Arts Council provides financial support to artists and arts organizations with publicly-funded grants, fellowships and cash awards from their privately funded endowment. They advance the arts with support through the Art Makes Columbus/Columbus Makes Art citywide marketing campaign, including an events calendar, artist directory, public-art database and more. They produce two major arts events each year: the Columbus Arts Festival a three-day, free event that features visual & performing arts and the Community Arts Partnership Awards that celebrate the contributions of individuals & businesses to the arts in Columbus.

HUCKLEBERRY HOUSE, INC. ESTABLISHED 1970 MISSION To provide comprehensive support and safe housing to empower our community's most vulnerable youth to achieved the future that they see for themselves. COMMUNITY PULSE One in seven children will run away before the age of 18. They run because they don’t know how to deal with family dynamics at home, or because they are experiencing an unsafe situation and feel there is no other escape. Once they are on their own, many don’t have anywhere to go, or they don’t know where to get help. Founded in 1970 as a shelter for runaway teens, Huck House works to prevent and end youth homelessness with a teen crisis shelter, a range of housing options, a youth outreach team, and strengths-based counseling services for youth and families.

NETCARE ACCESS ESTABLISHED 1972 MISSION We help people in a mental health or substance use crisis. We help the courts and community agencies by providing professional evaluations and assessments for those that need them. COMMUNITY PULSE Netcare Access is Franklin County’s 24-hour mental health and substance abuse crisis intervention and assessment services for adults and those with developmental disabilities. We are a part of the county’s Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health (ADAMH) system, providing referrals to other ADAMH agencies for treatment services. RIVALZ COLUMBUS ESTABLISHED 2009 MISSION We are also committed to advocating for the needs and rights of those facing Alzheimer’s disease and advancing critical research toward methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure. COMMUNITY PULSE RivALZ Columbus is an charity flag football game where two teams of women face off to inspire action, awareness and fundraising in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. RivALZ Columbus continues to engage the community, raising over $297,000 to date. Although the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has intercepted our plans for a regular spring season, the rivalry is still in play. Until we can be back on the field together safely, tap into your winning spirit and join us for the RivALZ Spring Challenge, a fundraising competition between teams across the country.

SEE KIDS DREAM ESTABLISHED 2008 MISSION See Kids Dream empowers youth with the skills, motivation and confidence to make our world a better place. COMMUNITY PULSE See Kids Dream offers service-learning curriculum through Central Ohio elementary schools. Throughout the school year, groups of students meet weekly to identify an issue they want to address in their community. Together, they research causes, interview local nonprofits, and create a project to help. By working with their peers to achieve a goal, they learn to communicate, listen, think critically, and solve problems. Kids also gain leadership skills, and grow their compassion for others.
