President’s Message

2023!WhatagreatyeartolookbackatfortheAlamoChapter.Thegroupcame togethertocelebrate,encourage,andinspireeachother.Forthisreason,ourChapter hashadalottocelebratesinceJanuary.Hereareafewexamples:

•Atotalof43paidmembersin2023

•Ourmembershipnowincludesmembersasfaras140milesaway.

•We’vebeenseeingasteadyaverageof26attendeespermeetingnotincludingguests.

•Withyoursupport,wehavefundraisedover$1,800inscholarshipfundstosupport certificationforourmemberships.

•OurfundraisingalsoallowedustoprovideastipendtotheLegislativeCommitteefor seminarattendance.

•Ourtotalnumberofscholarshipawardswillbearecordnumberin2024.

•MunicipalClerksWeek,April30-May6,wascelebratedwithanindividualgifttoeach ofourmembercities.

Aswecontinuetogrowandprosperinourmembership,Ihopethatyoufeelfreeto shareyourownsuccessesandwelcomeotherstoourofferings.Therehasbeenlotsto celebrateandsharewithoneanotherandwearesogratefultoyou,youremployer’s support,andtothisboard.Fiveofthe24citieswhoearnedtheTMCA'sMunicipal Clerk'sOfficeAchievementofExcellenceAwardfor2023-24,twooftheeightnominees fortheTMCAEmergingLeaderAwardareinourranks,andseveralofourmembers havebeenawardedascholarshipfromTMCA.Wehavewelcomednewclerks, commemoratedtheretirementofourfriends,andcelebratedourmembersfortheir winsbothbigandsmall.AttheAdvancedInstituteBanquet,thispastOctober,we celebratedournomineeforClerkoftheYear,SaundraPassailaigueandtwovery specialannouncements.

MiguelCantu,VicePresidentoftheAlamoChapterandCitySecretaryinGreyForest, waspresentedtheEmergingLeaderAwardforhishardworkandexceptional volunteerisminhismunicipalityandtoTMCA.Ofthe1,160TMCAmembersMiguel stoodoutandwasselectedunanimouslybyacommitteeofhispeers.

TheAlamoChapterwasalsorecognizedandawardedthePresident’sChoicefor ChapteroftheYear.Thisisaresultofallthehardworkanddedicationfromeachone ofourmembers.Thankyoueachforhelpingustoreachthisdistinction. Eachofourmemberscontributestothecommunitywehavebuilt.Whetherit’sby offeringadvicetoyourpeers,attendingourmeetingsandnetworking,orvolunteering onacommittee,we’vecreatedaCaringCommunityofClerks.Agroupofindividuals whoareeagertobearesource,provideassistance,andfosterexcellentinteragency relationships.Iamthankfulforyou.

Upcoming Regular Meetings

The Alamo Chapter will be hosting a free virtual training. This training will provide information about the public information act and how it relates to police records. The Alamo Chapter has opened this to all TMCA members and non-members. This means you can invite your Police Department, Municipal Court, and others to attend this free virtual training. No Registration Required.

The Alamo Chapter will be providing free training to Alamo Chapter Members and its guests. Mr. Wyat Wright is a certified trainer in Self Defense and CRASE (Citizens Response to Active Shooter Events) Training. This is a great customer service training opportunity for front office staff who interact with the public.

The Alamo Chapter will be hosting free collaborative training with American Planning Association- Texas Chapter. This training will focus on Zoning and Subdivision ordinances and provide legislative updates. This training will be provided by a Physical Therapist and a Certified Dietician to guide City Secretary’s and their peers to learn about healthy eating and exercise in the office. Most of sit all day and are seeking to assure we have energy to go through the day in a healthy lifestyle.

The Alamo Chapter threw a Meet and Greet on August 24th, 2023 at Hard Count Kitchen & Cocktails located in Georgetown. Our hosts for the evening were the fabulous Debbie Racca-Sittre from the City of San Antonio and the amazing Christina Picioccio from the City ofFairOaksRanch.

TMCA's Municipal Clerk's Office Achievement of Excellence Award was designed to recognize excellence in the effective and efficient management of resources in a municipal clerk’s office. The first recipients were awarded in 2020. The Achievement of Excellence Award covers a period of two years. We are so proud to announce the esteemed recipients of TMCA's Municipal Clerk's Office Achievement of Excellence Award has been awarded to:
