True Texas Connections September 2024

Page 1

Dear Weatherford Residents,

As we usher in September, a month of transition and new beginnings, I want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate Labor Day This holiday honors the contributions of hardworking individuals who are the backbone of our community From our valued city employees to educators, our local healthcare workers, construction workers, and business owners, every role plays a vital part in building the strong, vibrant community we cherish.

I also want to take some time to reflect on the achievements of some of our youngest citizens. In this newsletter you will see two shining examples of leadership from the next generation These special young ladies - Madison Wazac and Sutton Duncan - have already learned at an early age what it takes to “build a strong community”

As we move into fall, I am excited to announce a series of community events designed to bring us closer together From the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse Ranch Rodeo to the Pioneer Heritage Festival at the Doss Heritage and Culture Center, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. These events are a great way to meet your neighbors, have fun, and celebrate the unique spirit of our town. For more details on these events, as well as a full calendar, please visit ExperienceWeatherford.com.

Let us use this season of change as an opportunity to renew our commitment to each other and our community Together, we can build a future that is prosperous and strong Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey Happy Fall to each of you!

Congratulations to Madison Wazac for reading an impressive 1,263 minutes—over 20 hours this summer through the Weatherford Public Library Reading Challenge. Madison was honored with a certificate from Mayor Paul Paschall at City Hall, and we couldn’t be prouder of her achievement. We also want to thank Sutton Duncan, who celebrated her 5th birthday by asking friends to bring dog food for the Weatherford Parker County Animal Shelter instead of gifts. Sutton’s generosity is greatly appreciated and supports the shelter’s vital work. Thank you, Madison and Sutton, for helping to build a strong community!

The Parker County Sheriff's Posse Ranch Rodeo, taking place on September 13-14, promises a weekend brimming with family-friendly fun! On Friday, enjoy a rodeo performance followed by a concert from Michael Martin Murphey. Saturday features matched horse racing, two more rodeo performances, and a delicious chuck wagon meal, with the evening concluding with live music by Jake Hooker and the Outsiders. Join us in Weatherford for a weekend of unforgettable events that capture the essence of True Texas!
