Join us under the stars for a FREE outdoor screening of Lilo & Stitch (2025) on Friday, September 12 at the Heritage Park Amphitheater (503 Santa Fe Drive). The movie starts after dark, we recommend arriving a bit early to snag a great spot and tasty food from our vendors just don’t let Stitch near the snacks!

Red Not Chili Peppers are taking over Heritage Park! They deliver a full-throttle recreation of RHCP’s legendary live shows! Expect a setlist that spans every era, basslines that channel Flea’s iconic energy, and a crowd experience unlike anything Weatherford has seen.

Dawn Brooks has been promoted to Assistant City Manager for the City of Weatherford effective immediately

Brooks has served the City of Weatherford since 2019, most recently as Chief Financial Officer, and prior to that as Director of Finance and Assistant Director of Finance She brings over 20 years of experience in municipal finance to her role. Brooks holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Master of Public Administration.

"Dawn has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and financial expertise throughout her time with the City of Weatherford," said City Manager James Hotopp. "Her proven track record of excellence in financial management, combined with her deep understanding of municipal operations, makes her ideally suited for this expanded leadership role"

Under Brooks' leadership, the City of Weatherford has consistently been awarded the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Her strategic financial planning and commitment to transparency have been instrumental in maintaining the City's strong fiscal position and ensuring the responsible management of public resources.

As Assistant City Manager, Brooks will oversee financial operations and coordinate activities across multiple departments, including Human Resources, Information Technology, Municipal Court, the Weatherford Public Library, and Animal Services In this expanded capacity, she will work closely with department heads to streamline operations, enhance service delivery, and support the City's strategic initiatives

"I am honored to take on this expanded role and continue serving the citizens of Weatherford," said Brooks "I look forward to working with City Council, City Management, and our dedicated team to ensure we continue providing excellent services while maintaining responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources."

Tina Maxwell with the Weatherford Police Department recently attended the Bloodstain Pattern Analysis Training, which provided valuable instruction along with a variety of hands-on learning activities

School Resource Officers from the Weatherford Police Department attended the NASRO (National Association of School Resource Officers) training over the summer, gaining valuable tools and knowledge to help them better serve and protect students as the new school year begins.
