The City of Weatherford is proud to announce the appointment of Jason Hayes as Chief of the Weatherford Police Department, effective immediately Chief Hayes was selected following a comprehensive and competitive selection process that drew candidates from across the nation His appointment comes after serving as Interim Chief since December 2024
A Weatherford native, Chief Hayes brings 24 years of dedicated law enforcement experience, all with the Weatherford Police Department He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Wesleyan University and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Tarleton State University. In addition, he is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy and holds a Master Peace Officer License.
Over the course of his distinguished career, Chief Hayes has been recognized for his outstanding contributions to public safety and community service His honors include Rookie of the Year, Officer of the Year, Supervisor of the Year, and the City Manager’s Award for Excellence
“Chief Hayes has consistently demonstrated exemplary service and leadership within our department, and I have every confidence in his ability to continue to lead the organization with professionalism, integrity, and commitment,” said City Manager James Hotopp
Chief Hayes shared, “It is an incredible honor to serve as Chief of Police in the city I’ve called home most of my life. I am deeply committed to the safety and well-being of our community, and I look forward to continuing to work alongside the outstanding men and women of our department to provide exceptional service to the citizens of Weatherford.”
