STORYTIME WITH COMMUNITY HELPERS
Our adult education series continues in August. Each class is designed to spark creativity and connection.
8/7 – Joy of Coloring
8/14 – Joy of Gardening
8/21 – Joy of Paper Art
8/28 – Joy of Crafting
All programs are free and open to adults. Come learn, create, and enjoy with us!
Join us for a special storytime series where kids can meet real-life heroes from our community. Each session, we’ll share stories, songs, and fun activities followed by a visit from a local helper. From police officers and firefighters to animal shelter staff and even a big trash truck, little ones will get to learn about the important jobs these helpers do and see their gear, vehicles, or furry friends up close. Perfect for ages 0–5, but all are welcome.
In September the Weatherford Police Department will be hosting a REACT Academy. REACT Volunteers partner with Parker County law enforcement to support victims of trauma and violent crime during their most difficult moments. While officers and deputies focus on securing and investigating the scene, our volunteers are there to provide immediate emotional support to those affected.
Our team assists individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, house fires, serious accidents, death scenes, and large-scale disasters. Since crises can occur at any time, REACT volunteers are oncall and ready to respond whenever needed.
Being a REACT volunteer isn't for everyone, but those who are able to help experience life-changing rewards. If you'd like to learn more, we are hosting an Academy. Sessions will be held each Thursday in September at 6 PM at the Public Safety Building, 612 Fort Worth Hwy.
