The Morris College Hornets and USC Sumter Fire Ants call Sumter home and have a full calendar of sports from soccer to basketball to softball.

From the shores of Lake Marion, to the greens at Lakewood Links, to our many parks and trails, there is always something to do here. With more than 30 recreational and passive parks, there is a wide range of both outdoor and indoor activities for all ages. Here’s a taste of what’s available.

Show tennis some love

Play some tennis or pickleball at our world-renowned tennis center for FREE! Or watch some of the pros battle it out at the annual USTA Palmetto Pro Open.

They see me rollin’

One of the favorite weekend destinations is to go skating at one of the two local Roller Skating Rinks: Sk8terz and Skate Station of Sumter.

Swim, float, play

Make every lap count at our Aquatic Center or swim year round at one of the largest YMCAs in the state. If you have base access, Woodland pool also offers lap swims and free swims.

Go, Team! Go!

Sumter County Recreation and Parks offers youth sports year round. Sports include baseball, soccer, basketball, softball, football, and more. Call (803) 436-2248 to find out the upcoming registration schedule.

For those looking for state and regional competition, Sumter also has a variety of local AAU and club teams available. Sumter Soccer Club, Sumter Splash, Miss Libby’s Gymnastics, and Carolina Rattlers are just a few.

Sumter has five spray parks where you can find your inner child and run through any one FREE:

Take a walk on the wild side and visit the local waters where some of the pros have honed their fishing skills such as Pack’s Landing on Lake Marion, Poinsett State Park, or Sparkleberry Swamp. From waterfowl to whitetails, there’s so much to offer. Don’t forget to check if guided excursions available!
