SHINE District

In Sugar Hill, We SHINE

It is believed that the very sugar that fell down the hill had a specific, but not necessarily innocent, purpose. Stories of moonshining along the Chattahoochee River abound in Sugar Hill history and it’s likely that the sugar headed west before spilling at the top of the hill was on its way to a still by the river.

As a nod to this history as well as a highlight of our focus on the arts and entertainment, we affectionately refer to this area as the SHINE District: Sugar Hill’s Intersection of Neighborhoods and Entertainment.

Visitors in the SHINE District can enjoy alcoholic beverages purchased from any of our downtown businesses. Just ask the bartender for a SHINE cup and be on your way to exploring downtown Sugar Hill.
