HERE COMES THE JUDGE The Investiture Ceremony for the City of South Fulton's first Municipal Court Chief Judge Tiffany Carter Sellers was held September 29, 2017. The sanctuary of Elizabeth Baptist Church on Cascade Road was filled with Judge Sellers' family, friends, colleagues, and citizens of the City of South Fulton who witnessed Judge Sellers take her the official oath of office.

Carter Sellers will establish the municipal court to handle local ordinance and code enforcement violations, among other duties. The position is part-time; however, she will continue working in 03 COSF PURPLE THURSDAY her private law practice.

WOLF CREEK MULTI-USE TRAIL RIBBON CUTTING On Thursday, October 19, 2017 Fulton County Government, District 5 Commissioner Marvin S. Arrington, Jr. and the City of South Fulton officially opened the Wolf Creek Multi-Use Trail on the path adjacent to the Wolf Creek Branch of the AtlantaFulton Public Library System.

The 10-foot wide trail is located parallel to the east side of Enon Road and runs approximately 0.8 miles long. The trail is located in District 2 and is the very first-of-its-kind constructed in southern Fulton County. Multi-use trails are perfect for jogging, walking, bicycling, and walking pets. The trail contains three roundabouts that include landscaping, bike racks, and unique reinforced concrete half-log benches and is open to the public from dawn to dusk.

This project became a reality, thanks to a partnership between Georgia Department of Transportation, The Atlanta Regional Commission, and Fulton County. The trail provides connectivity to the Wolf Creek Amphitheater on Sanford J. Jones Boulevard and links the area to the Wolf Creek Branch of the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library.

FIRST TSPLOST PROJECT IN THE CITY The first City of South Fulton TSPLOST Project is the New Hope Road Resurfacing. A kick-off ceremony was held Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at the corner of New Hope Road and Versailles Drive in District 1.

COSF PURPLE THURSDAY

Wear Purple for Domestic Violence Awareness Day, also known as Purple Thursday, was observed by the City of South Fulton staff on Thursday, October 19, 2017. Domestic Violence Awareness Day has been observed Thursday of the third full week of October since 2010.

COSF PINK OUT National Mammography Day is observed annually on the third Friday in October - October 20, 2017- as part of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The day serves as a reminder to all women that the best defense is early detection. A mammogram can often detect a problem before there is any outward physical sign. COSF staff members supported the cause by wearing pink for COSF's Pink Out.

JUNIOR MAYOR FOR A DAY Marcus King, a City of South Fulton resident and senior at Therrell High School served as the City's Junior Mayor for a day on October 10, 2017.

King aspires to attend the University of West Georgia and pursue a career in politics. He has a passion for helping underserved communities and wants to create policies that help underserved communities thrive.

He is a participant in Passion for Life, Inc., a 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to help students identify their passions and create a plan to turn their passion into rewarding careers.

Passion For Life’s after-school program takes a holistic programming approach using Executive Style Life Coaching, Career Exploration, Leadership and Talent Development, and Dream Building Tours to assist high school students in grades 9-12 with becoming skilled professionals who love what they do and ultimately become the brightest industry leaders.

WEBSITE PLANNING The City of South Fulton is working with Civic Plus to develop a robust website.

A Civic Plus consultant hosted planning sessions with each department to introduce staff to the various website modules and capabilities of the new website.

A representative from the various City departments will be responsible for providing content and information that will be included on the website.

Members of the staff will participate in a training session to learn how to add news and calendar information to the website. Soon you will notice updates and changes to the City's website.

PHOTOS IN THE CITY The City of South Fulton is looking for up to 20 awesome photos to showcase on our new website. The City's Communications Department is currently preparing to host a photo contest--Photos in the City. Send your photos to news@cityofsouthfultonga.gov You will receive a photo release form for use of your photos. Submission does not guarantee usage.
