Violent Crime

The local rate of violent crime follows the national trend. While incidents of suspected murder get significant media coverage, “aggravated assault” charges drive the violent crime number.

In 2020, nearly 80% of Rock Hill’s violent crime count was made up of aggravated assaults incidents.

REDI & Voluntary Code Compliance

• Resource Education & Development Initiative (REDI) target specifically neighborhoods Catawba Terrace and Sunset Park with additional resources appropriate to neighborhood needs. Sunset Park was added in FY2022.

• Voluntary compliance is a measure of what percentage of property owners bring their property back to compliance after a citation.

Utilities customers have new options for conducting business with the City.

• System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI) measures the system-wide average power outage duration per customer.

• The SAIDI target for Rock Hill is less than 145.87 minutes.

• US Energy Information Administration nation-wide average, of reporting electric distribution systems, is 255 Minutes (2019).

‘REC in a Box’ Participants

• Recreation, Education and Community (REC) in a Box began in FY2019.

• COVID-19 has greatly impacted all Parks, Recreation & Tourism (PRT) programs including REC in a Box.

Inside Rock Hill

Congratulations to the 37th graduating class of Inside Rock Hill, the City’s 10week civics class that offers an inside look into City operations The graduates were recognized at the November 14 Council meeting.

New Fountain Park Area Amenities

What a relief! While it might not seem glamourous, there is no denying that the new public restrooms at Black Street and Saluda Street will make Fountain Park events across the street more comfortable. Restrooms will be open dawn to dusk and may be open to accommodate events.

Rock Hill welcomes the Exchange to downtown. The exchange provides the community with an additional 229 luxury apartment rental units, with plans for additional commercial space.
