INTRODUCTION:

THE NEXT CHAPTER

Lifelong Learning @ Rock Hill (LL@RH) is an inclusive community of adults, age 55+, who share knowledge through unique educational opportunities. Each semester, talented volunteer instructors offer a wide variety of outstanding classes and fascinating experiences for interested adult learners. The only prerequisite is a curiosity to learn!

Welcome to another exciting semester with Lifelong Learning @ Rock Hill! Throughout 2025, we celebrated turning five years young as a program that brings learning and connection to our community. As we look ahead to the next five years (and beyond!), we’re carrying forward the same curiosity and joy that started it all. You may notice a few changes in this semester’s catalog— each one a reflection of growth, unity and progress within the Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department. To ensure consistency across programs, the target age for LL@RH is now 55+, aligning with the OWLS Club and the Tennis Center’s senior programming. If you’ve been part of LL@RH and no longer meet the age guideline, please don’t worry — you are still welcome! Just reach out to me for assistance with registration.

Recently, during an LL@RH tour of the Sullenberger Aviation Museum, I paused to capture a quote from Captain C.B. “Sully” Sullenberger III that perfectly reflects our mission: “Flight has filled my life with wonder. It’s a noble calling that requires curiosity, passion, lifelong learning, and excellence. I hope your experience today inspires you to never stop growing and learning.” A beautiful reminder, isn’t it? At LL@RH, that same spirit fuels everything we do. As you explore the upcoming semester, may you continue to feed your curiosity, ignite your passions, and stay inspired to never stop learning. With enthusiasm and appreciation,

This timely communication is another important reason to update your account to allow text messages! The cancellation of a class due to weather does not guarantee it will be rescheduled.

Classes in the Works Pre-holiday marketing and publication deadlines for the spring catalog came quickly, and not all details could be confirmed prior to production. Staff is working to incorporate some of the following classes (or some version of the class) into the spring calendar, if timing, space and instructor availability are confirmed. PLEASE stay in the know by following our communication channels. Descriptions of the confirmed classes will be on the registration website. Small Towns in the Carolinas

General Information

LOCATION, CLASSROOMS & PARKING:

ADVISORY COMMITTEE:

Most classes are held at Northside Recreation Center (NSRC): 900 Annafrel Street, Rock Hill, SC 29730. If classes occur elsewhere in the community, it will be noted in the description.

Citizen input is vital to the PRT Department. The individuals on the LL@RH Advisory Committee are active participants who provide input and guidance for the program. The expertise of these individuals is valued and appreciated: Bill Rogers, Barbara Boulware, Dave Broucek, Dave Dobrowski, Susie Hinton, Kurt Isberg, Charlotte Moore and Jody Steele. CANCELLATIONS: All classes have a minimum and maximum enrollment. If the minimum enrollment is not met one week prior to the start date, the class will be cancelled, and fees will be promptly refunded. If a cancellation occurs, such communication will come via email or text message. INSTRUCTORS: Lifelong Learning is fortunate to have many talented volunteer instructors. To learn more about the Spring 2026 instructors, please visit the webpage and select the link for "Meet the Instructors" under the Class Information menu. If you are interested in volunteering as a future instructor, please contact LL@RH staff or plan to attend the class #636 Teaching with LL@RH.

The number of preferred learners per class dictates its location at NSRC. You will be contacted by email and text (if permitted) prior to the start of your class with the specific location (upstairs or downstairs) and information as to which parking lot at NSRC (upper or lower) is most convenient. This information will also appear on your registration receipt.

OPPORTUNITIES:

WAITLIST POLICY:

Many opportunities exist for volunteering with LL@RH. Assist with administrative or classroom needs; welcome participants; serve on the cleanup crew or more. And the easiest task of all? Spread the word about LL@RH to your friends and family!

Due to their popularity, classes often reach capacity quickly. Registration limits are set by the instructor’s preference and space availability. You can request to be waitlisted for classes that have filled. If seats open, individuals on the waitlist will receive an email directly from LL@RH staff OR as an autogenerated email from the City of Rock Hill with the subject: Waitlist Notification. Openings for classes are offered to individuals in the order in which they are entered on the waitlist. You must respond to this notification within 24 hours to secure your spot in the class or contact staff. With nearly 100 opportunities available, be prepared with second and third choice options when you register.

REFUND POLICY: You may cancel a registration and request a refund up to seven days before a class starts. To request a refund, please email lifelonglearning@ cityofrockhill.com. SCHOLARSHIPS: Financial aid scholarships are available. For more details about scholarships, please call 803-3295527 or email lifelonglearning@cityofrockhill.com.
