Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are a vital part of the City of Reno Inclusion/Adaptive Recreation program. Volunteers will gain rewarding experiences through assisting Parks and Recreation staff with a variety of programs or providing additional support for participants.
We are currently seeking volunteers for our upcoming programs!
Reno Adaptive Staff Selected to Attend Sports for Social Change Adaptive Sports Exchange to Nepal
April Wolfe, Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and Brittany Shaney, City of Reno Intern were accepted into the Sport for Social Change (SSC) Wheelchair Sport Program in Kathmandu, Nepal which will run from August 12–August 25, 2025.
The Sport for Social Change Program is a two-way exchange funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA)/Sports Diplomacy Division.
In September 2024, the City of Reno hosted adaptive athletes and coaches from Nepal in Reno, NV sharing programs such as wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby, adaptive hiking, and more! SSC exchanges are designed to foster greater cross-cultural understanding by providing athletes, coaches, and administrators with sports and cultural opportunities to learn about social inclusion, leadership-building, teamwork, mentorship, healthy living, and self-discipline in a multicultural setting.
Stay tuned for updates on our social media this Summer!
