Parks & Recreation Director's Message We love spring and summer as it’s a wonderful time to head outdoors to enjoy the warm sunshine in our parks, trails and open space. There are many ways to get outside to recreate. Do some gardening, volunteer to plant trees in your parks, hop on a bike or skateboard, play on playground equipment or simply take a 10 minute walk in a nearby park.

The role of parks and recreation continues to be to enhance our community’s quality of life by providing opportunities to improve your health both physically and

mentally. Your parks and recreation team is working hard to provide clean and safe facilities and enjoyable recreation programming for our residents of all ages and abilities.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as we navigated through the thick of the COVID-19 pandemic and continue to ensure we keep our patrons and employees safe.

We look forward to seeing you in our parks and wish you and yours good health.

Reno Parks & Recreation Commission Commission meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6pm. The meetings are hybrid - participants can attend virtually or in person at McKinley Arts & Culture Center.

Program fees are calculated on cost recovery goals and are presented to the Reno City Council on an annual basis.

Council approves the fee schedule in May of each year. The fees collected from these programs are not intended for profit. The fees cover the costs of providing necessary supplies and staff to run said programs. Fees and programs are subject to change without notice and may change after this document is published. The City of Reno Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to make cancellations as deemed necessary and refund accordingly.

Scholarships & Fee Assistance The City of Reno is committed to providing recreational opportunities to all residents regardless of economic circumstances. For this reason, a limited fund fee assistance program is available to those who qualify. If you have wanted to participate in our all-day camps, before-and-after school programs or qualified classes but couldn’t because of financial circumstances, we encourage you to apply.

Income level, family size, and other criteria determine whether or not fee assistance is awarded. Many families that qualify for a reduced program fee are not taking advantage of the opportunity simply because they haven't asked to be considered.

Once you have completed an application, return it to the Administration Office, City Hall, 1 East 1st Street, Reno 89501. Upon receipt of the completed application and the required supporting documents it will take approximately 10 business days to review a scholarship request.

You can call or download the rules and forms at Reno.Gov/ParksandRec. Registration/payment is required in advance, prior to the use of

programs, services or facilities.

Registration/payment is taken up until the registration deadline or when a program is full.

Requests for refunds, transfers or credits must be received on the written form by the criteria deadline.

Some programs have a registration deadline and many fill to capacity. It is advised to register early to ensure your space. Fees are subject to City Council approval and can change.

Our adaptive recreation equipment is available to rent (sport wheelchairs, beach wheelchairs, hand cycles, etc.). Affordable prices for participants to try before they buy.

This program offers weekly fitness classes in our facility weight room covering equipment, fitness level assessment, strength development techniques, fitness goal discussion, endurance and flexibility. Upon completion of four classes, participants will be eligible for a free all-inclusive one year facility membership.

The City of Reno will host 15 disabled veterans and injured service members with their spouse/guest for a multi-day event. There is no cost to military servicemen or women and their guest.

Registration preferences will be given to Nevada Service Members and residents.

Pinochle Pinochle also called pinocle or penuchle, is a trick-taking, AceTen card game typically for two or four players and played with a 48-card deck.

Instructor Guy Yeaman will teach your dog the basic obedience commands. Each dog will need a training collar (choke chain, martingale, harness, etc.) and a four-foot to six-foot fabric or leather leash. Written proof of updated dog shots must be shown at the start of class.

Gentle Yoga Ages: 18+ Cost: $35 per month This is a gentle movement yoga class. Shelters & Fees Each shelter can accommodate 50-200 people and comes with picnic tables and a barbecue. Please note that these amenities are not reserved as part of a picnic shelter permit. Park amenities are normally open to the public at large.
