We can hardly believe that spring is upon us. This season is special to us because it is the season of rebirth. The visual images of the earth being painted with God’s miraculous rainbow of flowers and perfumed with fragrances of hope open up the heart to truly understand joy. However, even more powerful than the rebirth that takes place across the landscape of the earth is the rebirth that God can perform in our lives. John 3:3 – “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” The actual power of being born again is too much for words to begin to describe. Every single day of our lives, we should be jumping up and down for joy because God has given us the opportunity to shed the old life and to be born again into a new creation who can fellowship with Jesus The Christ. Just the thought of this is pure joy! Each of you are a part of a revival. You are a part of a rebirth that is winning hearts for Christ. The City of Praise Family Ministries is humbled to be a part of this revival with you. May God Continue to Bless You, Sincerely,

dancing we did when Joel’s team won. And while the victory was sweet icing on the cake, the truth is that we would have been as elated and equally as demonstrative of our joy had Joel’s team lost. You see we were not cheering for the outcome. We were hopeful for a victory, but understand we were not cheering for the victory. We were cheering for Joel Peebles Jr.

One of the greatest joys of parenthood is watching your children come into their own God given gifts. Listening to our precious princess Janay sing is like communing with God. Our boys, Joel Jr., Jordan and Jeremiah are finding their gifts in their own way. Many of you sports enthusiasts can understand how Pastor Joel and I swelled with Godly pride when our son Joel Jr. led his basketball team to victory and a spot in the state tournament. I’m surprised Pastor Joel and I are not hoarse and sore from all the cheering, shouting, jumping and

our son. Every day, Pastor Joel and I walk on this earth to do the will of God. And as God has blessed us with four beautiful children, it is His will that we cheer them on with love and care that will produce adults who

will honor Him. Young people are God’s way of providing rebirth in the land. As adults, our responsibility is to tend to the soil by serving as wise and Godly mentors, role models and examples. Whether you are a parent or not, if you are an adult at The City of Praise Family Ministries, we implore you to pour into the lives of young people in our church and in the greater community. As our children’s church and teens ministries burst at the seams, we can give God praise because we know that we are yielding good fruit.

Luck or The Lord

Matter

Words

by Malika Carey-Jordan As St. Patrick’s Day approaches, have you considered what it means to say Good Luck? On the surface, it appears to be a safe and friendly way to wish someone well. However as you consider the power of your words, you may choose to revise those remarks.

While the origin of the word Luck is uncertain it seems to be borrowed from Middle Dutch or Low German and was made popular as a gambling term. Ironically, the etymological meaning of the word Lucifer is “light bearing.” (Reference Isaiah 14:12)

Some have argued that the reason to avoid saying good luck is because the word Luck is derived from the word “Lucifer.” My research shows that this is not really the case.

I find this to be interesting, but it has never been the reason that I have avoided the phrase good luck. “Good Luck” has been taken out of my vocabulary because it gives control of

The Praise Report What Being SINGLE Now Means to Me My definition of being single meant being alone! From the time I was of age to date, I had never been alone. My Heavenly Father started speaking to my spirit and telling me, “Attend a movie. Go to dinner by yourself. Date YOU.” I remember answering Him with anger. “Really Father? That’s not what I do.” I never attended ANYTHING alone. However, because my Father said so, I proceeded. I went to the movies first. In fear of asking for one ticket, I built up my courage and said, “One ticket please.” The salesperson replied, “One?” I stated, “YES… One!” Let me tell you, I enjoyed myself, laughing, crying and talking to the screen. As I walked out of the theater, I heard the Holy Spirit say, “Now make your way to dinner.” And in my mind, I replied, “Oh no Daddy, really? I attended a movie alone, now you want me to go out to eat alone?” I was lead to one of my favorite spots. When I walked in, they asked if I wanted a table for two. My answer again was No. I would like a table for one with a window view, please. I can’t begin to tell you how many couples were hugged up, and birthday celebrations were going on around me. It was very difficult at first but the more the Holy Spirit revealed who I was and to whom I belonged, I cried! As the sun began to set that day, my relationship with God had changed forever! With that being said, I no longer accept anything that’s not of Him in my life! God talked to me that night and reassured me that I’m never ALONE and that I AM complete in HIM! If therefore there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. -Philippians 2:1-2
