Start Smart Football
This is an organized, introductory football program for the first-time player. Parents will interact and learn how to teach their child a variety of football skills including passing, catching, kicking, and punting. Each child will receive a football, flag belt, kicking tee, and practice cones.

This is an organized introductory basketball program for the first-time player. Parents will interact and learn how to teach their child a variety of basketball skills including dribbling, passing, and shooting. Each child will receive 2 basketballs for drills, a scrimmage vest, and practice cones.

Youth Flag Football
Football season is here! Join us for some introductory flag football fun. Practice passing, catching, punting, and kicking. Learn the basic rules and participate in organized scrimmages.

Babysitting Basics
Become a better babysitter with Iowa State University Extension! Participants will learn about the responsibilities of a babysitter, what employers expect, and how to care for infants and toddlers. Youth learn about age appropriate toys and activities, safety, and basic first aid. All participants receive a book filled with information about childcare as well as a certificate of completion at the end of the course. *NO SCHOOL DAY FOR NORTH POLK CSD.*

Calling all Squishmallow Fans! Join us for this fun canvas painting camp! Students will paint the winter Squishmallow of their choice, enjoy snacks, play games, and make Squishmallow backpack clips. This fun camp is half art class and half Squishmallow celebration. Your child will have a blast and go home with a painting they treasure. Squishmallows are welcome!

Join Kids Create & Innovators Academy for a day of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Mathematics centered around a Reptile theme! We will work with LEGO, Dash, and Dot robots. Guests will transform their robots into reptiles and then learn to program them. Students will also meet a tortoise and bearded dragon, learn about cold blooded creatures, and improve their art skills while completing watercolor & drawing lessons. We'll save plenty of time for playing in the park, snacks, and a show. Your student will have a blast.

mission is to enhance , grow, and promote Polk City’s parks, trails, and greenspaces for the benefit of the entire community.

No School, No problem. Send your unicorn enthusiast to this magical camp! Students will create a unicorn canvas painting, listen to music, learn to draw unicorns, watch a show with popcorn and M&M's, and play games. Expect your student to have a great time creating a special painting. They will be so proud!

Fall Indoor Bags League
Join us for another fun and exciting bags league this fall! This time around we are moving indoors and setting the boards at 24’. We’ll follow the regular season with a double elimination tournament to crown our champions! Each week your team of two will play 3 games to 21. Registrants must sign up as a team; individuals will not be taken. Only one member per team needs to register.

Stretch & Strengthen Yoga
ADULT PROGRAMS
Join Angie in this monthly wellness program that will help stretch your tight muscles while improving your strength and mental well-being. Each class will be a unique blend of vinyasa style yoga, core engagement, and stretching where we will move breath to movement to help relax your physical body and leave you mentally ready for the week ahead. This class is perfect for first time yogi’s, high school athletes, worn out moms and dads, or anyone who needs an hour to themselves twice a week. Come one, come all!

Polk City Fall Fest
Join Polk City Parks & Rec and Go Polk City as we celebrate all things Fall! Kids activities will include pumpkin painting, face painting, inflatables, character appearances, and more! We’ll have seasonal vendors selling their best fall treats and some delicious eating options as well. Fenders Brewing will be holding their “Fenders-Fest” right next door to boot! Prost!

Letters to Santa
Let Santa know that you’ve been a good little boy or girl this year! Santa’s mailbox will be at City Hall December 1st -15th. Bring in your letter or picture for Santa, drop it in his mailbox, and we will get them sent to the North Pole! Make sure to include your name and address so Santa can write back!

Join Go Polk City and the Parks & Rec department as we celebrate the holiday season! Watch as Santa uses his “holiday magic” to illuminate our town square! Enjoy holiday activities and music, seasonal eats and drinks, and fire pits for keeping warm and s’mores! You’ll also have the chance to talk with Santa and let him know if you’ve been good this year. Other special winter guests will be in attendance as well. Happy Holidays!
