The essential skills required of effective supervisors today can be very complex. Supervisors must have the interpersonal skills needed to create a spirit of collaboration and build trust and respect in employee relationships. Strong supervisors guarantee the continuity of the organization by seeing the potential in employees, identifying skill gaps, and coaching and developing employees into future leaders in order to build a strong line of succession. Additionally, as a supervisor, you will be tasked with critical responsibilities in legal and compliance areas. These skills are often beyond the technical requirements for the position in which you were hired or promoted.
