• Registration recommended at least three (3) business days prior to course start to avoid cancellation.

• Appropriate program selections and registration are the responsibility of the person registering for the program. Please review confirmation text on your registration receipt.

Photography and Media Consent

• Prorated refunds will be issued as of the time/date of notification, except for certain aquatic, day camp and adventure courses.

On occasion, the City of Penticton may invite a photographer to visit a program. In this case, you may be asked to sign a consent form giving permission for the images to be used for promotional purposes.

• Please allow ten (10) business days for the delivery of a refund cheque.

• All classes are subject to cancellation due to insufficient registration, inclement weather or non-availability of facilities. In these cases, a full or prorated refund will be issued.

A SAFE RETURN TO RECREATION HELP PREVENT THE SPREAD OF COVID-19 Programs and Activity Reservations: We have enhanced protocols to safely return select programs and activity reservations.

These include: • All patrons attending a program must be registered or have a reservation.

• Reduced participant capacity in programs and reservation time slots.

• Enhanced facility sanitation practices throughout the day.

• Spacing of equipment and the closure of certain equipment, amenities and areas.

• Staff and patrons must complete a COVID-19 pre-screening prior to accessing the building.

Facility Rentals: We are committed to the health and safety of participants, volunteers, coaches, staff, and the public.

Our site specific facility guidelines follow directives provided by the Public Health Officer, BC Government, BCCDC, and other governing bodies. We work closely with community organizations, societies and individual community members to support their efforts in planning a safe return for activities at City facilities. As directives evolve, we modify and adapt our requirements as needed.

affordable/accessible recreation Funding is available to provide financial assistance for children and youth in the South Okanagan (ages 4-18 years) for recreation programs, activities, leagues, sports, etc. with a physical component.

Funding is available to provide assistance to children in Penticton, Kaleden, Naramata, and the Penticton Indian Band to participate in Sport BC recognized leagues and programs.

The Penticton Community Centre welcomes people of all ability levels to participate at our facility. We strive to ensure everyone has access to recreation opportunities regardless of disability, race, gender, religion or income. We also understand that disabilities include wide ranges of abilities and impairments beyond mobility and agility-related disabilities to sensory impairment and intellectual disabilities.

The City of Penticton has taken steps toward making its pools accessible to people of differing abilities. Below is a list of features the Community Centre offers for accessibilty in the pools: • A family change area with two accessible change rooms including ceiling lifts and change beds.

• The primary accessible change room has a lift bed with a weight capacity of 250lbs/115kgs.

• Ceiling lifts with a weight capacity of 440lbs/200kg; clients need to provide their own slings.

• The secondary accessible change room has a fixed bed with a weight capacity of 290lbs/135kg.

Aquatics Open for reservations! Reserve a lane in the main pool for a lap swim, or the leisure pool for moderate activity such as water walking, therapeutic exercise or casual swimming.

Activity time slots are Monday to Friday between the hours of 6:00am and 9:00pm, Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 to 5:30pm.

Memberships

Aquatics Admission Fees

All current memberships remain on hold and cannot be used for timeslot reservations. This includes 1, 3, 6 & 12 month memberships and 10 ticket pass cards.

Clients may request a membership refund backdated to the original date of closure until December 31, 2020. Membership refund requested after this date cannot be backdated.

Hot Tub Information

All specialized admission program passes are currently suspended. This includes LIFE Passes, Access Passes and Volunteer Passes.

Our Hot Tub is complimentary to users who have reservations in the leisure or main pool.

To ensure patron safety, space in the hot tub is limited to a maximum of 6 spaces and use is subject to the following guidelines: •

Maintain 2m distancing at all times, including at the designated entry and exit.

•

Sit at marked spaces only. Families or people in the same “bubble” may sit at one space but be mindful of other patrons.

Caregivers are responsible for monitoring and enforcing appropriate behaviour and physical distancing.

Know before you go

•

Limit time spent to 10 minute per round.

Each individual visiting the facility must have an activity time slot reserved.

(For example, families and care givers must have a time slot booked for each person attending).

Use of the hot tub is limited to the spaces and time available so is not guaranteed.

Residents will be able reserve an activity timeslot a maximum of 48 hours in advance, Non-Residents will be able to reserve an activity timeslot a maximum of 36 hours in advance.

Swimmers will be assigned their own single lane in the main pool No public equipment or toys available at this time. Swimmers are welcome to bring their own equipment, subject to staff approval, for personal use.

Change rooms and amenities will be available on a limited basis for patrons attending aquatic activities. Guests are encouraged to arrive prepared to swim, take a pre-swim cleansing shower, exit promptly and shower/change at home wherever possible. All swimmers must exit the change room a maximum of 10 minutes after their reservation ends.

Bottle fill stations are available through the facility, and water fountains are closed.

The sauna and steam room remain closed at this time.

Arrive on time for your reservation. Staff will be managing the check-in at the main entrance. No late admittance will be permitted.

SWIM LESSONS Changes recommended by the Canadian Red Cross have been put in place to ensure safety in the water and to promote physical distancing: Parents/guardians will be required to participate in all Swim Preschool lessons and Swim Kids 1 to Swim Kids 4.

All participants are encouraged to come dressed to swim as change room access and time will be limited.

Have you been interested about getting into fitness but don’t know where to start?

Have you tried to follow your own fitness program but are not seeing the results you wanted?

A cross between tennis, badminton and table tennis, pickleball is easy to learn and one of the fastest growing sports in North America. For $199, one of the Community Centre’s experienced fitness professionals will meet with you to ask a series of questions garnering your input, to design a three-month program that is specifically catered to your life, goals and needs and will help break down any challenges formerly faced when it comes to fitness.

The individual specific plan is designed for the person in mind, focusing on activities you enjoy, workout length, location, injury prevention, muscle building and weight loss goals.

Included in the custom plan is one orientation and three drop-ins to go over the specifics of the program and for using the Fitness Room.

Reserve a time for your next workout at the Penticton Community Centre Fitness Room!

With reduced facility capacities and group sizes, enhanced cleaning protocols and spaced out equipment, you can confidently get your workout in at the Penticton Community Centre.

Activity timeslots are between the hours of 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Memberships All current memberships remain on hold and cannot be used for timeslot reservations. This includes 1, 3, 6 & 12 month memberships and 10 ticket pass cards.

Clients may request a membership refund backdated to the original date of closure until December 31, 2020. Membership refund requested after this date cannot be backdated.

All specialized admission program passes are currently suspended. This includes LIFE Passes, Access Passes and Volunteer Passes.
