WELCOME! Riverside is back in full swing as we continue to welcome so many wonderful shows and happy audiences back to the theatre. As the old saying goes, change is the only constant and we continue to see so many changes around our world... some positive and exciting and others challenging and more confronting. One of the more positive changes has been the growing commitment to the arts from both the State and new Federal Government, a move our industry has warmly celebrated. There’s been some changes at Riverside too, as we continue to invest in new programming and in upgrades to our venue. You’ll see some of these changes for sure when you next visit us! I for one have been very thankful for the new hot drinks service at the Riverside Bar during these colder months. We’ve also had the fantastic news of Council’s support for the next stage progress towards Riverside’s redevelopment approval. As we evolve this process we’ll continue to keep you involved and I am looking forward to consulting further with our patrons and members as things move forward. What hasn’t changed is the great line up of shows ahead! Our August to November program is full of incredible live performances that will take you through to the warmer months with a spring in your step! There is dance for absolutely everybody, stage plays from some of Australia’s most prestigious and fresh production houses, including Sydney Theatre Company and Shake & Stir, heart-warming and hilarious musicals, plus a cinema season loaded with feature films, international film festivals and award-winning stage productions on screen. This season’s music program brings you everything from the classics to a capella featuring performances from the Australian Hayden Ensemble, Holroyd Brass Band and Simon Tedeschi. The Metropolitan Orchestra also make their welcome return to Riverside with Enigma Variations following their sensational Riverside

debut with Classical Blockbusters in late 2021 and it's great to have The Song Company back with us after a seven year hiatus. Packemin’ Productions return with the global hit musical, Kinky Boots, featuring Cyndi Lauper’s joyously original score and is the perfect way to kick off your Spring season... September school holidays brings round our annual children’s festival, SPOT ON, which this year celebrates it’s 10th birthday, with so much worth celebrating in this year’s program. SPOT ON 2022 is jam-packed with theatre, musical performances, physical comedy, circus acts and fun and free activities in the Riverside Courtyard provided in partnership with Playgroup NSW. Finally, our very own National Theatre of Parramatta presents two exciting new plays, with philosophical drama Nothing questioning the true meaning of life, and A Practical Guide to Self Defence, a mash-up of digital animation and kung-fu, it's a contemporary telling of an age-old battle – how to vanquish the demons within. I am also delighted to announce that NTofP will be producing the Australian Premiere of Choir Boy, by the Academy Award-winning playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney in early 2023 in partnership with Sydney World Pride. So there’s change afoot indeed, and so much to choose from in our mid-season program! There’s one thing that doesn’t change, however, and that’s the warm welcome you can expect from our wonderful team of Riversiders when you next join us. We’ll look forward to seeing and welcoming you back soon.
