Roll the Dice for Scholarships
Friday evening, June 26, will be a night of chances. If you attend the 6th Annual Fundraiser for the Paramount Education Partnership (PEP), you can indulge in a roomful of games of chance, as the theme this year is Casino Night.
The fact that you’re playing will be giving you the chance to contribute to the PEP Scholarship Fund, which helps Paramount students with financial need attend community college, trade school or university. All the money from the evening, including admission, sponsorships and the purchase of “gambling chips,” will go directly for the scholarships. Over the years, $180,000 has been raised this way.
The event – which will feature Japanese cuisine, fine wines and sake – will be held at Progress Park Plaza starting at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $50 per person, and must be purchased before the evening. They will be available as of June 1 at the Recreation Department, 15300 Downey Ave.
PEP is an alliance between the City of Paramount, the Paramount Unified School District, and the Paramount Chamber of Commerce. It is dedicated to providing programs and services that improve academic skills through literacy and math enrichment programs, homework help, English as a Second Language Classes, the Math, Engineering & Science Achievement (MESA) program and more.
