Commercial Buildings Get Makeovers
The City of Paramount partners with numerous owners of commercial buildings each year in a special program that physically improves the business sites. Usually these buildings have become a bit shopworn over the years, and this program helps Paramount’s public thoroughfares maintain a clean and attractive look throughout town.
One of the latest projects is Adriana’s Bakery at 7015 Somerset Blvd. The 1,800-square-foot building was constructed in 1951. The work included the removal of an outdated Mansard-style roof that was replaced with a new parapet at the front portion of the building, with a decorative cornice along the roofline.
The building also received new storefront windows and doors, a cultured-stone wainscot, new landscaping, new signage and a decorative stamped and stained driveway.
Another recent project is located at 16601 Paramount Blvd. The 2,700-square-foot, two-unit building dates to 1963. The improvements included a new roof parapet with a decorative cornice along the top, a new stucco finish, cultured stone column accents, new storefront windows and doors, and several decorative awnings.
Other on-site improvements include new planters and landscaping along the front of the building and the parking lot as well as a raised planter along the northwest corner of the property.
