WATER CONSERVATION CUTBACKS STILL IN FORCE

Paramount, like all cities across the state, is encouraging residents and businesses to cut down on outside water usage during this time of extreme drought.

Beginning in April, the number of days you can water lawn and landscaping goes back to three, after having two available days during winter

Here is a reminder of the recommended measures:

From April through October, you can water your lawn and landscaping on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday only

You can water on any day if you use a hand-held hose with a water shut-off device or with a hand-held container, as long as there is no water run-off.

You can water on any day if you use a very low-flow drip irrigation system.

No water run-off from lawns and landscaping.

No hosing down paved surfaces.

All water fountains or other decorative water features must use re-circulating water. (All decorative water fountains operated by the City use re-circulating water.)

All leaks, breaks, or other malfunctions in plumbing or irrigation systems must be fixed within 72 hours of observation and/or notification by the City

Use a hand-held hose with a water shut-off nozzle or hand-held bucket when washing cars.

Measures do not apply to “reclaimed” water, which City parks and landscaped medians use. Violations can result in fines.

Spring is here and the nomination period for this year ’s Paramount Pride has begun. The City's annual program will once again recognize property owners in town who add to our quality of life by maintaining their homes in a pleasing, attractive way

If you aware of such a house (including your own), feel free to nominate it. All we need is the address. The nominees will be judged by real estate/design professionals, who will choose this year ’s honorees.

Nominations can be made by calling City Hall at (562) 220-2027 or by sending an email through a link on the City’s website homepage at www.paramountcity.com. Again, all you need to provide is the home’s address.

The deadline for nominations is May 8th and the winners will be recognized at the June 2nd City Council meeting.
