Crimes Against Persons

Investigators spent hours working cases involving crimes against persons in 2008. Many cases were worked jointly with other agencies such as other local police departments, human services agencies, and federal agencies. Notable cases from 2008 are listed below.

Homicide

Owatonna investigators assisted detectives from Ramsey County in the investigation of a homicide that occurred in Little Canada. The suspects in the case lived in Owatonna or had ties to the area.

Criminal Vehicular Homicide

The Burnsville Police Department investigated a fatality crash in their city. The Burnsville Police enlisted the aid of Owatonna Investigators in apprehending the suspect who was residing in our community.

Aircraft Crash

Investigators assisted agents from the NTSB and FFA in the investigation of a plane crash at the Degner Regional Airport. The crash took the lives of all nine passengers aboard a flight destined for Owatonna.

Criminal Sexual Conduct

A report was filed regarding a male sexually assaulting a juvenile. During the course of the investigation, it was learned that the suspect had sexually assaulted four additional young juvenile victims.

Bomb Threats

Bomb Threats were reported at the SPX Corp. Wenger Corp., and Crown Cork and Seal. Investigators were able to link all three cases to a single suspect. An arrest has been made in the case; however, no formal charges have been filed.
