Event Permits

Park Permits are required for activities within a park with a special request of more than a routine pavilion rental. Examples include use of the park outside the hours of 9 AM- 9 PM, exclusive use of park amenities, events with bounce houses or other amusement items use of sound amplification, tournaments, food trucks as caterers, other special requests.

Event Permits are required for parades, temporary road or trail closures, weekend activities using public right-ofway, fundraising events, sales of goods or services on city property and any exceptions to City Ordinances.

Park Permits and Event Permits must be submitted online at owatonna.gov at least 30-days prior to the event.

Memorials & Donations

Look no further than Owatonna’s park and trail system for an opportunity to honor or remember a loved one. A variety of options are available including benches, drinking fountains, pet waste stations, bike repair stations, grills, dog park amenities, trees, landscaping and much more. Costs vary. For additional information and to review the memorial policy visit Owatonna.gov.

Adopt-A-Park and Park Clean-Up Kits

Volunteer to help keep Owatonna’s Parks looking beautiful!

A one-time clean-up at any park or trail can be done by registering online for a Park Clean-Up Kit. Pick up the kit on Wednesday, return the following Tuesday.

The City of Owatonna maintains more than 850 acres of parkland and over 17 miles of paved trails throughout 36 parks. Parks range from undeveloped natural spaces to specialty use parks. To see what amenities are provided in each park, visit Owatonna.gov, then Parks, Trails and Facilities to use the Owatonna Park Finder app.

Park Pavilion Information

Reserving a pavilion entitles the renter to the sole use of the pavilion from 9 AM to 9 PM. It does not provide sole use of any other park amenity. A park permit or event permit is required for additional amenities including greenspace, ballfields etc. To reserve a pavilion, visit Owatonna.gov or call 507-444-4321.

Volunteers can also commit to cleaning a single park once a month between April and October through the Adopt-A-Park program. Volunteers are responsible for cleaning their site of trash, debris, and downed tree limbs and helping to spread the word of PACK-IN, PACK-OUT, leave no trace! Adopt-a-Park volunteers may undertake beautification efforts in the adopted area upon approval by the Park Director. The City provides bucket, picker and removal of collected items. Contact the Parks & Recreation Office to see which parks and trails are available for adoption.
