MURPHY

We can almost smell the tortillas!
The groundbreaking ceremony for H-E-B took place around Thanksgiving. The highly anticipated grocery store has applied for their building permit and it’s currently under review by city staff.
We expect an opening date of Spring 2026, and can’t wait to visit all the amenities the 130,000 square foot store has to offer: iconic groceries, car wash, gas station, BBQ restaurant, pharmacy, and more.
“With Murphy nearly built out, this will likely be the last substantial development we get to see get built from the ground up”, said Reagan Rothenberger, Director of Community and Economic Development.

The City of Murphy holds various types of property at $100 or less which is unclaimed and presumed abandoned and subject to Title VI Chapter 76 of the Texas Property code. In accordance with the State Law, any amount over $100 dollars is sent to the State Comptroller where held until claimed.
Pursuant to Sec. 76.201 of the Texas Property Code, The City of Murphy publishes the names of persons/entities for whom the City of Murphy is holding unclaimed property on the City of Murphy website Unclaimed Property List. If you find your name or are a qualified claimant of someone named on the unclaimed property list, use the Unclaimed Property Claim form to submit your claim. The Unclaimed Property Claim form may be submitted by mail, email or hand delivery to City Hall. Before submission, remember to:
1. Answer all questions and fill-in all blanks
2. Supply photocopies of required documentation
3. Sign and date the form
Seat Safety Reminder!
As temperatures drop, remember that puffy coats and car seats don’t mix!
Bulky coats can prevent harnesses from fitting snugly, putting kids at risk in a crash.
For safe travels: Dress your child in thin layers. Add blankets or use a car seat-safe cover once they’re buckled in.
We know it’s tempting to bundle up your bundle of joy, but the extra bulk can compromise the safety of your child's ride.
The Public Works Department plays a vital role in keeping Murphy functional, safe, and thriving. They’re the behind-the-scenes heroes responsible for services and infrastructure we often take for granted. Here’s a quick look at what they do:
1. Maintain Roads and Sidewalks
From repairing potholes to ensuring sidewalks are accessible, public works keeps our streets safe and smooth.
2. Manage Water Systems
They oversee clean water delivery and wastewater management, ensuring safe drinking water and proper sewage systems. Murphy receives water via the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD), but there are many tests and maintenance items completed by Public Works staff regularly.
During storms or natural disasters, public works clears debris, applies sand to icy roads, and ensures roads remain accessible.
They work on long-term infrastructure projects, such as water line looping, trail connection, and sidewalk repair!
The Public Works Department is essential to our daily lives, quietly ensuring our communities are safe, clean, and efficient. Next time you see a team at work, give them a wave—they’re doing a lot to keep things running!
In partnership with txdot, murphy residents and guests will soon be able to walk across maxwell creek along fm 544.
another component of this project is a tunnel underneath fm 544 for pedestrians to move north and south safely.
Did you know 1/4th of every cent of sales tax collected in Murphy goes towards repairing sidewalks?
Check out the interactive map showing the prioritization of repairs by clicking here.
our police department is performing regular traffic surveys based on complaints and/or identified by staff.
If you’ve ever missed trash day, you’re not alone. Did you know Murphy’s trash/recycle collection only has six scheduled delays per year?

While we’re on the subject of trash...
Did you know Murphy residents get a weekly bulky trash collection?
You may set out up to four cubic yards each week, which is about the size of a regular pickup truck bed. This can include things like mattresses, furniture, limbs (bundled and tied), etc. For more information about this collection, visit our website!
