EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR MELVIN CAPERS
The City of Murphy is delighted to recognize Melvin Capers, Recreation Center Supervisor, as our 2025 Employee of the Year, an honor that reflects not only outstanding performance, but an unwavering commitment to service and excellence, and a dedication to embodying the City's core values of being Murphy C.O.O.L. From the moment Melvin stepped into his role as Recreation Center Supervisor, he embraced the City's mission with energy and purpose. As one nomination perfectly captured: “Melvin embodies what it means to be a team player and a representative of our core values.”
Whether he’s supporting weekend operations, managing large reservations, staying late to ensure recreation facilities are ready for the next day, or mentoring new and existing staff at the community center front desk, Melvin leads with professionalism, reliability, and heart. His respectful and friendly approach makes him a trusted leader for coworkers and a welcoming presence for every patron who walks through the Murphy Community Center doors. Melvin’s initiative, work ethic, and positive attitude set the standard for excellence in Parks and Recreation and public service. The City of Murphy extends its sincere appreciation to Melvin Capers for his outstanding contributions that help ensure Murphy remains a premier place to live and thrive.
New residential sprinkler system evaluation program! The City of Murphy has partnered with the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) and M&M Irrigation and Illumination to provide Murphy residents with an opportunity to have their irrigation system inspected. The evaluation report will provide suggested irrigation system repairs, controller settings, and estimated gallons of water saved if you implement all listed recommendations. The irrigation evaluator will not make any repairs to your system, if repairs are needed, you are responsible for hiring a licensed irrigator.
