Montclair to College (MTC) is a ONE-OF-A-KIND college readiness program brought to Montclair High School students and their families by the City of Montclair, Chaffey Joint Union High School District and Chaffey College.

If completed successfully, MTC provides students with the opportunity to earn a two-year paid scholarship to Chaffey College-a value of approximately $4,500! The MTC scholarship includes tuition, textbooks, parking permit and enrollment fees.

Who can apply to MTC?

Deadline to Apply: MARCH 11

ANY Montclair High School student can enroll in the program.

Students must graduate from MHS without significant disciplinary action with at least a 2.0 GPA. The MTC application and 20 community services hours at a nonprofit organization can be started as early as your freshmen year (9th grade) senior year (12th grade) and be completed by March 11 of their senior year.

sports The City of Montclair, in partnership with the Ontario-Montclair School District provides Expanded Learning Programs at our local schools at no cost. The program begins at school dismissal time and ends at 6:00 p.m.

Enrichment

Based on their grade level, students are assigned to a class where a trained City Employee will guide TK-8th Grade Students in the daily components of MAP, including a well-balanced supper, time for homework, physical education, and academic enrichment.

Enrichment activities complement the curriculum taught during the school day; enrichment activities may include: art, drama, science, music, dance, games, and sports.

Mondays - Fridays, 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m City of Montclair Youth Center, 5111 Benito St., Montclair Montclair Summer Day Camp offers supervised activities for boys and girls (born 2012-2019) and is staffed with trained recreation personnel. Summer Day Camp fees include all arts and crafts, cooking supplies, movies, snacks, recreational swimming, special events and field trips. Each camper will receive a summer recreation T-shirt. Registration is taken on a first come, first served basis. Fee: TBD, check the City of Montclair website for updates.

Students will enjoy a series of Driver’s Education lectures including understanding the responsibilities of having a driver’s license, learning the rules of the road and accident-avoidance procedures. In this class, you will learn to glide effortlessly, skate forward, backward, and stop. On the 8th week of class, all skaters will perform a recital and will get a certificate to take home. A $5 skate rental is charged every time the class meets. Please arrive early as ice skates take time to be fitted properly. All participants receive free rink access on the day of their class. This class focuses on self-defense for all situations during college life. Students will progress from standing to putting someone down to ground controls and submissions. Do you want to make new friends or go on an adventure? All participants must have a registration card and signed code of conduct on file before attending any Senior Center events or activities.

The Montclair Senior Center Citizen's Club is a non-profit meant to enhance the Senior Center experience! Membership is for persons over the age of 50 and the cost is $15 per year. FILE OF LIFE

The “File of Life” is a magnetic pocket holder that contains an information sheet with all your recent medical history. It attaches to the outside of your refrigerator and assists emergency medical personnel who may come to your home during an emergency.

Volunteers from AARP will be assisting with filing income taxes at the Montclair Senior Center every Tuesday from February 3 through April 14 from 1-5 PM. MONTCLAIR WALKING PROGRAM

The group meets every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the Upper level near North West Plaza Entrance (5060 E. Montclair Plaza Ln). Montclair Walkers is a FREE exercise program focused on Seniors and open to all ages sponsored by City of Montclair Human Services Department and Montclair Place. Registered Walkers who log 100 miles (or more) receive a free 100 Mile Club shirt! Applications are available on site with the program attendant or at the Montclair Senior Center.

Monthly meetings are held the last Monday of the month.

COUNSELING AND CASE MANAGEMENT

West End Family Counseling Services, Older Adult Community Services Program provides free counseling and case management services to adults 60 years and older who meet the requirements for Early Intervention and Prevention Services.

This transportation program provides free curb-to-curb service for senior citizens ages 60 and older who are Montclair residents and do not drive. The service includes transportation to the Senior Center and general errands within Montclair city limits. Service outside Montclair is limited to medical appointments only. This program is made available through funding from the City of Montclair, San Bernardino County Department of Aging and Adult Services - Public Guardian, and the San Bernardino County Economic Development Department. Montclair Community Garden The Montclair Community Garden opened June 20, 2015, as part of the Healthy Montclair Initiative. The garden is organic.

This means no chemical fertilizers, pesticides, weed killers, GMO seeds or plants. The Garden belongs to the community and all gardeners are responsible for helping maintain the garden grounds.

The Montclair Community Garden has 40 plus 3 ADA accessible raise beds plots for members of the community to rent on an annual basis. Earthquakes can happen anytime, but a little preparation goes a long way. Start by securing heavy furniture, bookshelves, and wall décor so they won’t tip over. If the ground starts shaking, Drop, Cover, and Hold On! Get down low, protect your head and neck under something sturdy, and stay put until the shaking stops. If you’re outside, move away from buildings, trees, and power lines. After the quake, check that everyone’s okay, look out for utility hazards like gas leaks, and listen to official updates before re-entering buildings.

Protect Yourself from Property Crimes Property crime, theft particularly, is an ever-present reality, and there is no shortage of methods criminals can invent to separate you from your hard earned money and property. While some crime continues to be basic, such as theft from vehicles and home window-smash burglaries, technology has enabled a whole new way to take your money, often-times with the victim willingly giving it away without knowing they are being victimized.

Thieves are now leveraging technology and knowledge of human behavior to trick victims into giving away their property. Fraudulent emails (phishing), malware (like a virus, but designed to steal your data), card skimming devices, and phone call/text scams, make the thieves anonymous and more difficult to track. The positive side to these scams is they are completely preventable, if you know what to look out for.

If you are ever in doubt about a suspicious call, email, or other potential scam, you can always call the police department to speak to an officer to discuss your concern.

No business or government agency should be contacting you and asking you to provide them with any information without your knowledge. Legitimate calls and emails will ask you to contact them, and you should always do so through the business or agency's own website/number, not any links or numbers provided to you. Never click on any links in suspicious emails, and never provide any personal information over the phone to someone who called you.

Links in emails can be spoofed, or tricked into looking legitimate, but if you hover your mouse over the link, it will reveal the true destination. Remember, some apps will make a text message appear it is in fact coming from your bank or financial institution.

Technology is not all bad news though, as it can be used to help protect yourself as well. Home surveillance, once expensive and technologically inconvenient for most residents, is now easy and affordable. Products like Ring, Nest, and Blink make it easy to use and set up cameras that can be placed anywhere, and some even have the ability for two-way communication and video sharing with neighbors and police. Most cell-phone carriers have scam call filtering or number blocking, most email has phishing filters which can reduce the number of these attempts, and most computers have built-in malware detection and elimination. As technology is always evolving, it is important to keep all of your electronic devices and software up to date for maximum protection from these scams and to keep your information safe. If you are ever in doubt about a suspicious call, email, or other potential scam, you can always call the police department to speak to an officer to discuss your concern and receive additional guidance or information.

The two most common scams are phishing emails that look to be from a business or person you know, a financial institution, or a scam phone call or text, which appears to be from a government entity like the IRS or Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or your local police department.

As with all of these scams, they all have one thing in common: There is an URGENT problem needing your IMMEDIATE attention. It could be suspected fraudulent activity on your bank card which you have to verify, or there are unpaid taxes which will result in your arrest. Often the only way to correct the problem is with an immediate payment, often in a gift card or bank transfer. These are ALL scams designed to separate you from your money. Government agencies will never contact you by phone for collection purposes, and if ever in doubt, you can call the agency directly to verify. We will never ask for payment over the phone or email.

Medical OMM Clinic The Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) Clinic will be held on the second Monday of the month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Western University of Health Sciences licensed physicians and medical student volunteers will offer OMM, a form of treatment that physically manipulates the body's muscle tissue and bones. Patients will not be provided with prescriptions or other medical care. Appointments are available to those without insurance or to those whose insurance does not cover OMM treatment.

To honor Montclair veterans the Community Activities Commission will be accepting new submissions for plaques on its Veteran’s Memorial Wall. The new plaques will be dedicated on Memorial Day, May 25, 2026.

The wall, located in the Memorial Garden adjacent to City Hall, pays tribute to individual Montclair veterans from all branches of services who are deceased and remains as an ongoing dedication to those who served our country during any war or peacetime. Cost is $425 per bronze plaque.

The Racquetball/Weight Room Complex is located in the Recreation Center and consists of three racquetball courts, and a weight room. The Complex is open to the public, five days a week; however, it is closed on major holidays. Weight room and Racquetball participants ages 14-17 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Montclair Yard Sale Regulations Yard Sales are only allowed on the first full weekends of the months of February, May, August, and November. Yard Sales may only be conducted on Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday. Following is a list of "Yard Sale Weekends".

Hazardous Waste Montclair residents may dispose of their household hazardous waste, including used motor oil, oil filters, antifreeze, household cleaners, paint, batteries, and many other items found in most homes and garages. Feeding America Mobile Food Pantry The Human Services Department and Feeding America are coordinating to provide free food commodities to qualified San Bernardino and Riverside County residents. We would like to ask that all participants bring a grocery push cart for quick loading. Proof of income is NOT required. You will be asked to self-declare income. Food kits vary and may provide a selection of fruit, juice, vegetables, milk, cheese, grains, protein. All dates/times are subject to change.

Food Commodities The Human Services Department and the Community Action Partnership of San Bernardino County coordinate to provide free food commodities to qualified residents, 18 years of age and older, on the third Thursday of each month on a first come, first served basis. The commodities vary from month to month, but may include canned meat, canned vegetables, flour, cornmeal, peanut butter, soups and juices. The Distribution is open from 9:30 a.m - 10:30 a.m. Doors open at 8:00 a.m. on the following Thursdays:

• Enrollment is limited.

• All fees must be paid at the time of registration.

• Payment can be made via cash, check, Visa or MasterCard.

• For programs with “no fee" register at the first meeting.

• Instructors are subject to change without notice.

• Recreation facilities are wheelchair accessible.

CLASSES & WORKSHOPS NEW Online Registration Available: https://www.cityofmontclair.org/activities

In-Person Registration: Will be accepted at the Recreation Center on weekdays. Pre-registration is requested, however, registration will be accepted at the first meeting if openings exist. Certain activities could be canceled prior to the first meeting if sufficient pre-registration is not received. Payment may be made in cash, check, Visa or MasterCard. Checks are to be made payable to “City of Montclair”. A parent or guardian must register participants under the age of 18. For certain activities supply fees will be charged.

REFUND POLICY

Refunds for contract classes will be given only if requested before the first class meeting, or if the activity is canceled by the City or as otherwise noted.

LATE REGISTRATION PROCEDURES

Registration will close 2 days after class start date. If a program or class still has openings after the close of regular registration, late sign-ups will be allowed with the approval of the Recreation Coordinator and Instructor.

Late registration will only be taken at the Recreation Center and all original class fees will apply.

CLASS CANCELLATION

When a class is canceled due to insufficient registration or other reasons, our office will notify you before the scheduled first meeting. If an alternate date has been set for the activity, you will have the option of transferring to that time period or receiving a refund. Refunds will be mailed in the form of a check and may take up to six weeks to be issued.

SPORTS LEAGUES, TRIPS, & SPECIAL EVENTS

Registration procedures will vary and will be announced in all special newsletters and announcements pertinent to those activities.

SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS

Persons with disabilities are included in the City’s programs. If you wish to request special accommodations for any activity, please notify the Recreation Center, (909) 625-9479, at least three business days prior to the date of the activity.

RENTING FACILITIES The Montclair Human Services Department has facilities available for rent when they are not in use for City sponsored activities. Rates vary depending on the size of the facility needed and the type and duration of the activity.
