Motions Cheerleading

Motions Brazilian Capoeira

Instructor: Janese B. Location: Meridian Homecourt Ages: 5+ Min/Max: 4/10 Open your child’s eyes to a world of movement, music and culture! This is a unique opportunity for kids to be exposed to a fun blend of martial arts, music, culture and friendship. Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art/dance form, which uses choreographed acrobatics and martial arts movements set to music. Did you know there’s an art gallery located on the third floor of Meridian City Hall in downtown Meridian?! The Initial Point Gallery features a rotating selection of art created by local, regional and national artists. Introduction to the Sport of Fencing

Instructor: Sill Lyra Location: Meridian Community Center Ages: 7-14 Min/Max: 4/10 Come learn the first steps and basic movements of the unique sport of fencing. Coach Sill Lyra, an Olympic Coach at the 2004 Olympics in the Modern Pentathlon, will teach kids an introduction to the sport, the principles, movement and strategy. Fencing improves hand-eye coordination, concentration, physical fitness, confidence, selfesteem and self-respect. While learning how to use this everyday item to create depth and gradience, participants will also use a variety of tools and techniques to create a finished take home project. These clay prints, much like fossils, preserve the texture of the leaf and creates a unique home décor item.
