The McCall mill whistle last blew at 12:00 noon on Oct. 28, 1977. Fast forward to 2020, when Artist Amy Westover was commissioned by the McCall Improvement Committee to create a working piece of art with the salvaged 8" Sinker Davis Co. steam whistle. Sound of an Era was inspired by the shape and texture of the iconic incinerator at the mill site. Portable steam generating equipment, operated by the City, connects to the sculpture for whistle blows at key times of the year. Keep in touch with special Mill Whistle events!
