We are excited to offer the Counselor in Training (CIT) program for summer 2025! This program is designed to train teens to be successful recreation leaders. Teens will gain valuable experience and have fun adventures that will stay with them forever. They will learn useful leadership skills, get hands-on training with young children, and meet new people. They will attend intensive training led by Martinez Community & Recreation Services Staff. During the summer, CITs will put their training to use by working closely with staff to supervise and lead activities for campers
Please Note: To be considered for this program, accepted applicants must be able to attend a mandatory CIT training on Monday, June 9th and Wednesday, June 11th. If you are unable to make this commitment, we cannot accept your application this summer.

Come get a move on with Community and Recreation Services! Our fun summer activities will keep your children movin’ and groovin’ all summer long! Your camper will be immersed in a unique camp experience where counselors lead exciting and engaging games, crafts, playground time, and science experiments. Throughout the week, depending on location, camp visits the pool, goes on field trips, and participates in special events.

All participants will get hands-on learning experience as they are introduced to STEM and programming concepts. With the Pokémon Championship approaching, join our enthusiastic Play-Well instructors as we build and catch our favorite Pokémon, rescue Pikachu from Team Rocket, take a ride on the S.S. Anne to uncover rare and mystic Pokémon, and battle to see who will hold the title of Pokémon Master. Come along on our journey to catch ' em all!!
Pokémon Master Engineering using LEGO® Materials
LEGO® Master, I choose you!! In the race to be crowned the Ultimate Pokémon Champion, we need your help! Learn to build your favorite Pokémon, level up by teaching them special moves, evolve them into more powerful versions, and come face to face with the current champion in an epic battle for the title Learn from our Play-Well Pokémon Masters so you can make it to the top!

The City of Martinez offers financial assistance for City-Sponsored recreation programs to eligible Martinez Residents and Martinez Unified School District students. Each scholarship will pay up to 50% of the activity fee, not including lab fees, up to $150 per child.
Funding is provided solely by private donations and awarded annually.
