AQUATICS Lap Swim

Recreation Swim

Ages 16+ years Lap Swim is available from June-September. Swimmers will have the ability to swim any time during the posted lap swim hours. During heavy use, lap swimmers will be required to circle swim and/or share a lane with other swimmers. Participants must be at least 16 years old.

Punch passes are available for purchase online.

General Admission Fees Apply. Please check our website for lap swim closure dates.

Both the lap pool and the splash pool are open during recreational swim. Admission fee required for all guests over the age of two years old.

Lifejackets are available for use. Food is permitted.

No glass, alcohol, knives or styrofoam allowed in the facility. Swim diapers are required for children not potty trained and can be purchased at the front counter. General Admission Fees Apply.

These 55-minute classes offer techniques to improve health, movement, power and fun in the water. Enjoy great music and the multi fitness levels our instructors have to offer. This drop-in swim time is for parents and young children 5 years old and under to enjoy pool time together in the Splash Pool, before the water park opens. Lesson Price

Parent/Tot Lessons A water introductory group class for infants and toddlers age 6 months to 3 years. Children must be accompanied into the water with a parent or guardian, and the class offers a great opportunity for bonding with your child in a fun and stimulating environment. Classes run for 30 minutes. The purpose of this class is to familiarize children with the water and teach swimming readiness skills.

Creative games are used to teach infants breath control, big arm movements, and leg kicks. Children are introduced to the repetitive movements that become skill building blocks. While focusing on comfort and relaxing in a water environment, guardians are encouraged to challenge each child’s skill level. Using songs, floating implements, and toys, the classes are structured to engage your child and, most importantly, encourage fun!

Parent/Tot 1 Level 1 introduces basic skills to parents and children.

Parents learn how to safely work with their child in the water, including how to appropriately support and hold their child in the water and how to prepare and encourage their child to participate fully and try the skills. Children receive an introduction to basic skills that lay a foundation for learning to swim. In addition, parents are introduced to several water safety topics.

Parent/Tot 2 Level 2 builds on the skills introduced in Level 1.

Participants improve on these skills and learn more advanced skills in Level 2. As with Level 1, water safety topics are also included in this level.

Preschool Group Lessons Jump into the world of swimming with our fun and engaging preschool aquatics program! Designed for children 4–5 years old, this series of classes helps little swimmers become comfortable and confident in the water while learning important safety skills. Through playful activities, songs, and games, children build basic water skills like floating, gliding, kicking, and breath control. Each level helps your child take new steps toward independent swimming in a supportive, instructor-led environment. Every class is 30 minutes of splashing, smiling, and skill-building fun!

Preschool Level 1: Water Exploration Level 1: Children are introduced to the water with assistance from instructors. Focus includes entering and exiting safely, blowing bubbles, assisted floating, and feeling comfortable moving through the water.

Preschool Level 2: Water Movement Level 2: Builds on water comfort by developing basic movement skills like floating independently, gliding, and beginning to combine arm and leg actions.

Learn-to-Swim Group Lessons Our Learn-to-Swim program is the perfect next step for children ages 6 and up! Whether your child is new to the water or ready to build stronger swim strokes, these progressive classes focus on safety, skill development, and having a great time. Each level introduces and refines swimming techniques, floating skills, and water safety knowledge. Taught by trained instructors, your swimmer will gain confidence, strength, and stroke ability while having fun every step of the way.

Learn-to-Swim Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills Level 1: Feeling safe and secure in the water. Children practice entering and exiting safely, blowing bubbles, floating with support, and learning basic arm and leg movements.

Learn-to-Swim Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills Level 2: Swimmers build on what they learned in Level 1 by practicing independent floating, gliding, and swimming short distances. They begin to explore more coordinated arm and leg movements and water safety topics.

Learn-to-Swim Level 3: Stroke Development Level 3: Taking swim skills to the next level with a focus on stroke development. Swimmers learn the basics of front crawl, elementary backstroke, and are introduced to treading water and deep water skills.

Recreational Swim Pool Parties are an easy and popular way to hold a birthday, team, organization or office party. This package includes pool admission and a reserved picnic shelter of your choosing.

Skyhawks Mini-Hawk Camp

Join us for an action-packed week filled with Skyhawks’ original variations of your favorite sports, including Baseball, Capture the Flag, Dodgeball, Flag Football, Soccer, Track and Field, Ultimate Frisbee, and Volleyball! Our awesome Skyhawks coaches create a warm and welcoming atmosphere where everyone, no matter their skill level, can enjoy friendly competition, receive lots of encouragement, and simply have a blast!

This ultimate multi-sport camp combines Baseball, Basketball, Flag Football, Soccer, and Track and Field, allowing young athletes to develop a passion for a variety of sports in one fun-filled environment. COUNSELORS IN TRAINING

We are excited to offer the Counselor in Training (CIT) program for summer 2025! This program is designed to train teens to be successful recreation leaders. Teens will gain valuable experience and have fun adventures that will stay with them forever. They will learn useful leadership skills, get hands-on training with young children, and meet new people. They will attend intensive training led by Martinez Community & Recreation Services Staff. During the summer, CITs will put their training to use by working closely with staff to supervise and lead activities for campers.

Please Note: To be considered for this program, accepted applicants must be able to attend a mandatory CIT training on Monday, June 9th and Wednesday, June 11th. If you are unable to make this commitment, we cannot accept your application this summer.

CHP Age Well/Drive Smart Program For licensed drivers of any age, this free program presents tips to understand driving safety, important and new traffic laws, resources and much more. Some of the information provided: how to develop a “plan” before you stop driving, a transportation cost sheet, showing how to calculate current vehicle operating costs, and illustrating available public transportation. At the end of the program, licensed attendees will receive a certificate of attendance. This certificate may qualify participants for an insurance Mature Driver Discount. Contra Costa Senior Legal Services Free Wills Clinic

Dementia Family Caregiver Support Group

Contra Costa Senior Legal Services is sponsoring a Free Wills clinic on the last Thursday of every month. Free simple wills, advance health care directives and powers of attorney are available to seniors with low incomes and limited resources (income of $2,500 single/$3,500 couple and no assets apart from one’s house). No trusts will be drafted or reviewed. Appointments are available at a first come, first serve basis. To make an appointment, call 925-609-7900.

This is a support group for those who support others. This group is for caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. If you are looking to talk to others in similar situations, need more information, additional support, or caregiving strategies join the Dementia Family Caregiver Support Group.

Meetings are the 3rd Tuesday of each month in the Senior Center Lounge.

Senior Nutrition Program Café Costa opens at 11:00 am. Lunch is served Monday–Friday from 11:30 am—12:15 pm. For participants who are over the age of 60, there is a recommended contribution of $3.00. Senior Peer Counseling As we get older, sometimes a little help means a lot. If you are 55 or older and facing challenges that are difficult to cope with alone, our Senior Peer Counseling program can help. Participants connect with fellow seniors who are trained to provide assistance and support with challenges such as depression, fear, loneliness, the loss of a loved one, health changes, or isolation.

Senior Peer Counseling is available in both English and Spanish. Services are free and confidential.

Senior Citizen’s Club of Martinez Membership The club exists solely for the enjoyment of its members and guests. The club sponsors activities, trips, card games, crafts, holiday luncheons, movies and more. It is truly a club "for its members, by its members." A membership of the SCC Martinez currently entitles seniors 50 years of age or older access to the following: bi-monthly bulletin, membership card and parking pass, monthly email blast, and priority day trip sign up. As a person ages, they may not know where to turn for answers and services that are available within the community. To help seniors remain nourished, safe, less isolated and independent for as long as possible, MOW Diablo Region offers a comprehensive Care Management program that assists seniors and their families. MOW Diablo Region's Care Management Team provides free and confidential guidance and shares resources about CalFresh benefits, elder abuse, long term care, housing issues, transportation, home safety modifications, legal services, and more. A fireworks show dazzles spectators at the Waterfront Park Martinez Shoreline at 9:30pm.

This spectacular 20-minute show promises a breathtaking display of lights and colors in the night sky.
