AQUATICS Recreation Swim Both the lap pool and the splash pool are open during recreation swim. Admission fee required for all guests over the age of two years old.

Lap Swim Ages 16+ years Fall swim hours are available from September-October. Lap swimmers will have the ability to swim during the posted lap swim hours. During heavy use, lap swimmers will be required to circle swim and/or share a lane with other swimmers. Punch passes can be purchased online. Admission fees apply.

Aqua Zumba Ages 18+ years Aqua Zumba gives new meaning to the idea of an invigorating workout. Participants will experience splashing, stretching, twisting, shouting, laughing during an Aqua Zumba class. Integrating the Zumba formula and philosophy with traditional Aqua fitness disciplines, Aqua Zumba blends it all together in a safe, challenging, water-based workout that is cardio-conditioning, bodytoning and exhilarating.

SAFETY CLASSES American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Training Ages 14+ years The Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course teaches students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns, sudden illnesses, head, neck, back injuries, heat and cold emergencies and breathing and cardiac emergencies to help victims of any age - adults and pediatric.

Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years through the American Red Cross.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course Ages 15+ years Become an American Red Cross certified lifeguard. After successful completion, the American Red Cross will issue certificates in Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED. Participants must pass prerequisite swimming skills test on the first day of class. Class times do not reflect required online learning sessions.

Babysitter Training Course Ages 12-17 years American Red Cross babysitting training course can help you gain the skills you need to take care of the kids in your neighborhood when their parents can't be with them. This course is designed to help participants develop leadership skills, build their business, help keep themselves and others safe, help children learn how to behave, and learn basic childcare and first aid.

Calling all future tennis stars! Lil’ Racketeers is a beginner tennis class designed for kids ages 5-10 years. It’s all about introducing kids to the exciting sport of tennis in a fun and energetic way.

Baseline Brawlers is the perfect program for young players (ages 8-15) who are hungry to take their game to the next level. This advanced beginner program will solidify the fundamentals and develop the skills needed to compete at a more advanced level.

Chair yoga is a safe and accessible version of traditional yoga for older adults and anyone with mobility challenges. Contra Costa Senior Legal Services Free Wills Clinic

Dementia Family Caregiver Support Group

Contra Costa Senior Legal Services is sponsoring a Free Wills clinic on the last Thursday of every month. Free simple wills, advance health care directives and powers of attorney are available to seniors with low incomes and limited resources (income of $2,500 single/$3,500 couple and no assets apart from one’s house). No trusts will be drafted or reviewed. Appointments are available at a first come, first serve basis. To make an appointment, call 925-370-8770.

This is a support group for those who support others. This group is for caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. If you are looking to talk to others in similar situations, need more information, additional support, or caregiving strategies join the Dementia Family Caregiver Support Group.

Meetings are the 3rd Tuesday of each month in the Senior Center Lounge.

Senior Nutrition Program Café Costa opens at 11:00 am. Lunch is served Monday–Friday from 11:30 am—12:15 pm. For participants who are over the age of 60, there is a recommended contribution of $3.00. Lunch is a mandatory $6.00 fee for those under the age of 60. To make a reservation you must call by 12:00 pm on the business day prior to the day you want to attend. You can reach Café Costa at 925646-2598. Every year on July 1 a new Napis form will need to be filled out to receive meals. See Café Staff for forms.

Health Insurance Counseling (HICAP)

Senior Peer Counseling As we get older, sometimes a little help means a lot. If you are 55 or older and facing challenges that are difficult to cope with alone, our Senior Peer Counseling program can help. Participants connect with fellow seniors who are trained to provide assistance and support with challenges such as depression, fear, loneliness, the loss of a loved one, health changes, or isolation.

Senior Peer Counseling is available in both English and Spanish. Services are free and confidential.

Senior Citizen’s Club of Martinez Membership The club exists solely for the enjoyment of its members and guests. The club sponsors activities, trips, card games, crafts, holiday luncheons, movies and more. It is truly a club "for its members, by its members." A membership of the SCC Martinez currently entitles seniors 50 years of age or older access to the following: bi-monthly bulletin, membership card and parking pass, monthly email blast, and priority day trip sign up. Care Manager

As a person ages, they may not know where to turn for answers and services that are available within the community. To help seniors remain nourished, safe, less isolated and independent for as long as possible, MOW Diablo Region offers a comprehensive Care Management program that assists seniors and their families. MOW Diablo Region's Care Management Team provides free and confidential guidance and shares resources about CalFresh benefits, elder abuse, long term care, housing issues, transportation, home safety modifications, legal services, and more. For more information, please call 925-482-1876 or visit the senior center in person on the third Wednesday of the month between 10 AM and 12 PM to meet with our Care Manager.

2024 AARP Smart Driver Safety @ Refresher Courses The course is designed for drivers ages 50 and older to help update driving skills and knowledge of the rules and hazards of the road. You will learn about normal agerelated physical changes and how to adjust your driving to compensate. Pre-registration and payment (cash or check made payable to AARP only) must be made in person no later than one week prior to the class date.

Dig out the goggles, dust off the bathing suit and get ready to jump in the pool to pick the perfect pumpkin. The Pumpkin Dunkin returns to the Rankin Aquatic Center for a pumpkin hunt you won’t soon forget! Enjoy games, pumpkin decorating and pumpkin-splashing-fun!

Costumes are encouraged. Pre-registration required.

Join the City of Martinez and Martinez Arts Association (MAA) in celebrating the Day of the Dead with us in a joyous and meaningful gathering. Come together with the community to honor and remember those who have passed in a vibrant and festive atmosphere. This event will include music, dancing, a best dress competition, and much more!

The City of Martinez Community & Recreation Services Division and the Veteran’s Commission invites the community to attend our Veteran’s Day Ceremony on Monday, November 11, for a heartfelt Veterans Day Ceremony honoring those who have served our country. The day begins at 10 AM at Alhambra Cemetery, followed by a gathering at 11 AM at Ignacio Plaza.

This is a meaningful opportunity to pay tribute and connect with our community.

Come on down to our Annual Frosty’s Holiday Boutique at the Martinez Senior Center where you will find unique holiday gifts and handmade items. We will be serving free hot chocolate and have Santa available for free pictures thru the whole event! If you are interested in being a vendor at our boutique please contact the Martinez Senior Center.

Join us for the annual Holiday Frolic event! Parade begins at 7:00pm at Court & Main Street, and will end at Alhambra Ave & Main Street. Register to receive your very own light wand and help light up our parade! If you would like to participate in the parade, please fill out a participant application on our website by November 26th.

Join us for a rewarding day at the Alhambra Pioneer Cemetery Clean Up, in partnership with E Clampus Vitus Chapter 13. This twice-yearly event is not only a chance to help preserve a piece of local history but also a fun way to connect with fellow community members. Grab your gloves and friends and enjoy a day of teamwork and camaraderie as we spruce up this historic site!

Saturday, October 12 9:00am-2:00pm Come join Barbara Patchin for a stroll thru our historic cemetery! Learn some history and meet some famous residents. Tour takes about 1.5 hours. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes.

Please no children under the age of 12 years old. Registration for the tours is done online.
