Safe and Fun Programs for La Porte Summer is right around the corner and that means everyone will be looking for a fun location to cool off from the Texas heat. Did you know that the City of La Porte maintains four outdoor pools and three splash parks? On top of being a great place to cool off, they are extremely affordable and all of our splash parks are FREE. Pools open Memorial Day Weekend and are also available for private rentals. Splash Parks opened on March 13 and will close on October 31. If you glance at page 17 in this program guide, you will find all of the information about our pools and splash parks including locations, hours, and fees. We also offer group swim lessons for infants through adults, as well as private swim lessons for those looking for more one-on-one attention. All of our swim instructors are certified through the American Red Cross. Great news, San Jacinto Pool is currently getting a renovation! The project includes new plaster, decking, water features, and a new splash park feature. Construction is underway, and we can’t wait to see the finished product. We’ll make sure to post a message on social media with details on when we are having the grand re-opening party. In addition to pools, don’t forget that the City of La Porte maintains 24 parks and over 13 miles of hike and bike trails for you and your family’s enjoyment this summer. Recently, we have also added outdoor fitness equipment at Fairmont Park to help you keep up with your workout routine. If you would rather stay indoors on hot summer days, our Recreation & Fitness Center is here for you! Have a great summer! Sincerely, Rosalyn Epting, CPRE, CPM Director of Parks & Recreation

The City of La Porte provides the perfect opportunity for adventures with more than thirteen miles of trails for walking, cycling, running, hiking, or simply relaxing. The main artery of the trail system winds its way parallel to Fairmont Parkway from Pasadena all the way to the bay. The paved path is ideal for cyclists looking for a long weekend ride. At the eastern end of the trail is Little Cedar Bayou Park, where runners can take a rest beneath the shady trees, while watching their furry little training partner play at the dog park. From the Little Cedar Bayou Dog Park, the trail splits into two separate personalities: one, continue along the paved well-manicured path, or two, step off-road for a little rugged retreat. Option two leads hikers down a dirt trail away from the park as it twists beside the bayou toward the open bay. The densely wooded surroundings swallow up the sounds of the city, and
