La Porte’s Citizens Police Academy (CPA) is a free program intended to create a stronger partnership between the police department and the citizens they serve. CPA participants attend classes at the La Porte Police Department, 3001 North 23rd Street, every Tuesday night for 13 consecutive weeks, from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM, and are exposed to well-qualified instructors Topics of instruction include Patrol Procedures, SWAT, Investigations, Bomb Squad, Dispatch Operations, and other components of the Police Department. CPA graduates will find volunteer opportunities with the department and become eligible to participate in the “ride along” program where they can experience police patrol firsthand Graduates are also encouraged to follow up and attend the Advanced Citizen’s Police Academy where they will spend some time in the field and witness demonstrations by specialized units.
An initial application is required and applicants must be at least eighteen years of age with no felony offense convictions, cannot be on probation for any reason, and must not have any outstanding warrants. Priority is given to applicants who live or work in the La Porte, although exceptions may be made for others who wish to attend. Filing for a place on the General Election ballot runs January 18-February 17, 2023, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, Monday-Friday, with the City Secretary's Office at City Hall, 604 West Fairmont Parkway. Filings will be accepted for AtLarge B, District 1, and District 6 Council positions.
The first day to apply for a ballot by mail for elections in 2023 is January 1, 2023.
Texas law requires eligible voters to register by the 30th day before Election Day. The voter registration deadline for the May 6, 2023, election is April 6, 2023.

This academy consists of six (6) consecutive weeks of education that gives the participant a unique insight into the work of an EMS agency, how the EMS system operates daily, and how to become a citizen EMS provider Sessions will include the history of La Porte EMS, EMS operations and patient care, CPR and First Aid training, Stop the Bleed, a tour of EMS HQ, and a ride along with paramedics as an observer Minimum age requirement of at least 18 years of age

The court recognizes that it is often the first point of contact for an individual’s introduction to the justice system, particularly for juveniles The Court has an innovative juvenile community service program called the R O C K Program (Responsibility Opportunity Consequences Knowledge)
The program offers alternative sentencing to juveniles who are guilty of Class C misdemeanor offenses. The 2023 R.O.C.K. Program will include speakers covering emotional intelligence, anger management, addiction, decision-making, distracted and impaired driving, and other relevant topics.

Practices & games are held at Fairmont Park, 3540 Farrington. One practice per week with games on Saturdays. Practices begin the week of March 6. Season games run from April 1 – May 20. Volunteer coaches needed!
Spring Break Camp
Open to K – 6th Grade and packed with fun, games, crafts, a field trip, and more! Camp will be held March 13 – 17, from 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM. Registration is open January 6 – March 6 (or closes when full). Camp fee is $60 per camper.
Summer Camp
Summer Camp activities will include weekly themes, fun games, arts & crafts, science experiments, field trips, swimming, sports, movies, and more! Registration for K – 6th Grade opens April 1 for La Porte residents and April 6 for non-residents. We have 11 weeks of camp running from May 30 – August 11, with camp hours from 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM. The camper fee is $60 per week (except the week of July 5 – 7 is $40). Space is limited!
