ATMOS ENERGY SAFETY SURVEY
As part of Atmos Energy’s vision to be the safest provider of natural gas services, it is essential to survey and monitor our natural gas system for leaks using the most advanced technology available.
Atmos Energy crews and contractors will be in your area performing safety surveys of our natural gas distribution system using mobile leak detection units that measure and map methane plumes in the area
Mobile leak detection units are white SUV’s with flashing lights and are labeled with an Atmos Energy logo or “Utility Contractor.” You will see this unit driving slowly in the street and alley at night, which ensures an accurate survey of our gas system.
As part of this routine maintenance, if a natural gas leak is discovered, crews will investigate and grade the leak. If a Grade 1 (hazardous leak) is found, immediate action will be taken to eliminate the hazard. Grade 2 and 3 leaks are monitored and scheduled for repair based on state and federal guidelines.
City officials and first responders have been notified of this activity.
For more information on how to detect a natural gas leak, visit atmosenergy.com/gassafety.

Pet Ownership
Owning a pet is a privilege, but the benefi ts of pet ownership come with responsibilities.
Be a Responsible Pet Owner:
Avoid impulsive decisions when selecting a pet.
Select a pet that’s suited to your home and lifestyle. Keep only the type and number of pets for which you can provide appropriate food, water, shelter, health care and companionship.
Commit to the relationship for the life of your pet(s).
Recognize that pet ownership requires an investment of time and money.
Make sure your pet receives preventive health care (vaccinations, parasite control, etc.), as well as care for any illnesses or injuries. Provide appropriate exercise and mental stimulation.
Clean up after your pet. Don’t allow your pet to stray or become feral.
Properly socialize and train your pet.
Limit your pet’s reproduction through spay/ neuter, containment, or managed breeding.
Obey all local ordinances, including licensing, leash requirements and noise control.
Make sure your pet is properly identifi ed (i.e., tags, microchips, or tattoos) and keep its registration up-todate.
Prepare for an emergency or disaster, including assembling an evacuation kit.
Make alternate arrangements if you can no longer provide care for your pet.
Recognize any decline in your pet’s quality of life and make timely decisions in consultation with a veterinarian.

Program Steps: Program Steps:
Citizen contacts City and asks to participate in the Cost Share program.
If funds for the current fiscal year are not available, the citizen's name is added to a group list for the following year. When funding for the following fiscal year becomes available, city staff will contact citizens through individual authorization letters, requesting a response indicating interest in continuing with the program.
For each positive response, city staff visits the property and assesses the sidewalk repair needs.
City staff sends the citizen an individual quote for the cost share, a sketch of the replacement limits and a 30-day deadline for submitting payments.
City staff then prepares a contract with the residential property owner.
The work is completed by the city and comes with a one-year warranty.
