Bulk/brush Collection Month Bulk items must be placed in the FRONT of your home as early as the Saturday before your pick-up week and no later than 7:00 A.M. on Monday of your pick-up week. Early setouts, late setouts, and setouts in excess of 12 cubic yards will be tagged for noncompliance and if not cured within the allotted time frame, for immediate removal and charges/fines will be applied to your utility bill. Residential Solid Waste & Recycle Regular Trash Collection Guidelines: Regular trash and recycling is collected ONCE a week Trash must be placed out no later than 7:00 A.M. on your designated collection day All trash must be secured in bags within your GRAY cart The lid must be completely closed Your cart must be placed curbside, with the front facing the alley Allow a 3 foot clearance around your cart (away from cars, trees, mailboxes, fences, etc.)

This is a partnership between the Cedar Hill Public Library, DeSoto Public Library, Duncanville Public Library and Lancaster Public Library that makes it easier than ever for residents to check out materials between all four libraries.

Aquatic Programs Fitness Swim Resident - $20/Month | Non-Resident - $30/Month Adults 18 and up can enjoy dedicated time specifically to aquatic exercise. Swim laps or engage in self-guided water aerobics.

Water adjustment is the goal. Swim skills covered include: holding positions, bubble blowing, supported front & back movement, underwater exploration and rolling over.

Water Aerobics $40/Month Adults 18 and up can enjoy this great form of fitness. Water aerobics is staff led and great for those who require less joint impact, seniors and those who love the water.

The Senior Life Center is Open!

Face coverings and temperature checks are encouraged Plan your visit to the Senior Life Center in the morning from 8:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. and/or the afternoon 2:00 P.M. 4:00 P.M. The building is closed from 11:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. for the home meal service and deep sanitizing.

Members are encouraged to bring their own coffee and water as drinks will not be provided at this time due to COVID19 safety precautions.

Members who are currently enrolled for the meal program may continue the home meal service or pick up take-home meals outside of the Senior Life Center between 11:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. No new enrollments will be taken at this time.

Mosquito Prvention tips

Follow these tips to held prevent mosquitos from ruining your day!

Remove Mosquito Habitats Eliminate standing water in rain gutters, old tires, buckets, plastic covers, toys, or any other item where mosquitos can breed.

Keep Mosquitos outside Use screens on the windows or air conditioning to keep mosquitos from slipping in a window.

Stay Indoors During Dusk and Dawn While mosquitoes can bite at any time of the day, it's wise to limit your exposure during their prime feeding times. If you can't avoid being outdoors at these times of the day, make sure to take some other precautions.

Treat Pools of Water Treat pools of water you can not drain to kill mosquito larvae.

Use Mosquito Repellent The most effective chemical repellents contain DEET, picaridin, PMD, or IR3535 insecticide, which are all considered safe when used as directed.

Wear Long-Sleeved Shirts & Long Pants Thicker fabrics and looser fits with lighter colors offer more protection than thin clothing that fits tightly.

FREE Mosquito Dunks are available to Lancaster residents while supplies last at 211 N. Henry Street and at 700 E. Main Street.

Residential Security Check

Free Smoke Detectors

The City of Lancaster Police Department offers a residential security check program to residents who are away from their home for extended periods of time. If you plan to be out on a weekend trip or month-long vacation, a Lancaster officer will periodically stop by and check on your house to ensure it is safe and secure from any unauthorized visitors. The City of Lancaster Fire Department and the American Red Cross have teamed up to provide FREE smoke detectors to Lancaster residents who are in need (supplies are limited).

Lancaster residents must call the Fire Department at 972-218-2600 to request alarms and schedule a day for the Fire Department to come out and install them for you.

Close or Extra Patrol A Close or Extra Patrol is conducted when the Lancaster Police Department deems an area to be a high crime rate area or when citizens request for extra police patrol presence.

outdoor warning siren system Ever wonder when the outdoor warning sirens are actually activated?

The National Weather Service (NWS) advises the use of outdoor warning sirens when an event is life threatening to the community and anyone outside should seek shelter indoors and tune in to the news station for more information.
