Stormwater Tips Stormwater Tips: Use pesticides and fertilizers sparingly, and well in advance of a storm.
Stormwater Tips: NEVER dump anything down storm drains or in ditches
Stormwater Tips: To prevent flooding, do not leave yard waste (grass clippings, leaves, brush, etc.) in the street or sweep into a storm drain.
Stormwater Tips: Plant trees, shrubs, and ground cover to help rainwater soak into the ground. Keep the soil covered; bare soil is the primary cause of erosion.
Stormwater Tips: When walking your pet, remember to pick up the waste and properly dispose of it.
Stormwater Tip: Repair leaks and dispose of used auto fluids and batteries at designated drop-off or recycling locations.
Stormwater is defined as any unfiltered water runoff that reaches creeks, streams, lakes, and oceans by flowing across impervious surfaces, such as, roads, parking lots, driveways, roof tops and solid land features. During these water runoff events, stormwater picks up toxic pesticides, possible human/animal waste, detergents, fertilizers, metal and sediment that may ultimately contaminate water sources. This results in an unhealthy, unproductive quality of life. Lancaster Today - www.Lancaster-TX.com | 7
