2021 Wyland National Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation The annual Wyland National Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation encourages residents across the United States to make small changes in their daily routines to manage our water resources more efficiently and help improve the health of our ocean, lakes, rivers, streams, and wetlands.

Residential Solid Waste

Regular Trash & Recycling is picked up ONCE a week. All trash must be secured within your gray cart with the lid closed.

If at any time you do not comply with the guidelines, your address will be documented as a NO PICK UP for that week's collection. Place all trash items out no later than 7:00 a.m. for pickup between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on your service day. Please ensure the trash receptacle and the recycle cart are separated by at least four (4) feet, and four (4) feet away from obstacles such as mailboxes, cars, fences, gas meters, and drainage ditches.

Please ensure there is a 16 - foot clearance above your cart. Position trash cart with wheels toward the residence.

Storm Water Public Education Stormwater is any unfiltered water runoff that reaches creeks, streams, lakes, and oceans by flowing across impervious surfaces, such as, roads, parking lots, driveways, roof tops and solid land features.

During these flow events, stormwater picks up toxic pesticides, possible human/animal waste, detergents, fertilizers, metal and sediment that may ultimately contaminate water sources. This results in an unhealthy, unproductive quality of life

Stormwater Tips: To prevent flooding, do not leave yard waste in the street or sweep into a storm drain.

Use pesticides and fertilizers sparingly and well in advance of a storm.

Repair leaks and dispose of used auto fluids and batteries at designated drop-off or recycling locations.

When walking your pet, remember to pick up the waste and properly dispose of it.

The Veterans Memorial Library offers many services and programs to residents. Library cards are free for Lancaster residents and only $20 per year for non-residents. Conveniently place a book on hold and pick it up using the drive-through option. Wireless printing is also available for Library members.

Don't see a book you're looking for? Take advantage of our interlibrary loan option which allows you to place a request for our library to borrow a book from another library. We also offer many programs such as virtual computer classes, virtual story times, S.T.E.A.M. kits, and virtual trivia night to name a few.

Open to all ages. Children 9 years old and younger MUST be accompanied by an adult Open shoot ONLY. Absolutely no pick-up games allowed 2 people per hoop, maximum capacity of 10 You must pre-reserve your 50-minute session via Community Pass.

Technology Program Join the Recreation Center every Saturday at 9:00 a.m. for Computer Basics Level 1 class! You will get the chance to learn the very basic function of a computer necessary to stay afloat in our current virtual world. This level one class will cover how to access the internet, connect to email, and how to access sites such as Community Pass and Zoom. Lancaster residents may enjoy this technology program for FREE.

Virtual Nature Walk Identify different nature items such as birds, native trees, invasive species and other wildlife! We encourage viewers to go out and explore on their own and submit their photos to the Parks and Recreation webpage. Every month viewers vote on their favorite uploaded photo. Join us every 1st Thursday of the month!

Senior Life Center

The Senior Life Center is currently closed to the public but offers daily home meal deliveries to currently registered participants Monday Friday between 11:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M.

Parking Lot Bingo Every 2nd Thursday of the month at 1:30 P.M. The Senior Life Center now offers Parking Lot Bingo to citizens of all ages for only $2 a month! Visit the Lancaster Recreation Center to register and pick-up your player's cards. Please call 972-218-3700 for our pick-up time! Also, register via Community Pass and receive your player’s card via email!

De-thatch to rid your lawn of Grass grows better in soil that dying or dead grass. Lawns isn't compacted down. Aerating do well with less than 1 1/2 your lawn loosens up the dirt inch of thatch, but will begin and provides air and room for to suffocate if there's too necessary nutrients to deeply much penetrate the soil.

Letting the grass grow too long can cause stress and potentially damage the grass seed. Grass seed does best when a mow takes no more than 1/3 of the total grass height off

For thin or bare spots, simply loosen up the soil with a rake and sprinkle grass seed to the affected area. Be sure to water the area regularly to make sure that the seedlings take to the ground.
