Walk with MLK In light of the current restrictions imposed by COVID-19, and the current recommended guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as it pertains to gatherings, the annual MLK parade will not be taking place this year. However; in lieu of the annual parade, we will celebrate the life and legacy of the great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by hosting a fun-filled engaging walk along the trail of the Lancaster Community Park; highlighting historic moments of his life. “A Walk with MLK” will begin on January 16, 2021, and end February 1, 2021. There is no registration required and everyone is invited to come out and engage in the socially distanced and COVID free event. IN SUPPORT OF “KEEP LANCASTER BEAUTIFUL” AND THE GREAT AMERICAN CLEAN-UP EFFORTS, THE CITY OF LANCASTER WELCOMES RESIDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN ITS UPCOMING TRASH OFF ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 23, 2021 FROM 8:00 A.M. TO 2:00 P.M. AT 1501 N. DALLAS AVENUE (NEXT TO REGIONS BANK). Boards and Commissions The city of lancaster needs people who have a strong interest in the community to serve on one of the city's many boards and commissions.
AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD Five regular members appointed to two-year terms and one alternate member appointed annually. Residency in lancaster not required. working knowledge of airport operations recommended. meets at 7:00 p.m. on second tuesday of each month. serves in and advisory capacity and makes proposals to Council.
ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE Six members and one alternate serves in advisory capicity to help the animal shelter meet state requirements for animal welfare. Meets at least three times per year at 7:00 p.m. on second thursday of the month.
CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION Three members, with no alternate members, who shall be appointed by the city manager and confirmed by city council. each person appointed to the commission must: (1) be of good moral charactor; (2) be a united states citizen; (3) be a resident of the city who has resided in the city for more than three years; (4) be ofer 25 years of age; and (5) not have held a public office within the prceding three years. meets each january on fourth thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (TYPE A) Five members who serve three-year terms. required to be residents of Lancaster. administers funds and projects using the 1/4 cents sales tax receipts dedicated to economic development purposes pursuant to the development corporation act of 1979, article 5190.6. meets quarterly on third Thursday at 7:00 p.m. commissioned to review applications for incentives and make recommendations to council for approval.
HISTORIC LANDMARK PRESERVATION COMMITTEE
This Committee is composed of 5 members and 1 alternate. Members are appointed to 2-year staggered terms by the Planning and Zoning Commission and confirmed by the City Council. The alternate's term must be renewed annually.
LANCASTER RECREATIONAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (TYPE B) The Recreational Development Corporation (Type B) administers projects using the .25 cent sales tax to help develop and diversify the recreational, educational, and cultural aspects of the City. Property Standards and Appeals Board
The Library Advisory Board consist of 5 regular members who serve 2year terms and an alternate member appointed annually.
The Property Standards and Appeals Board consist of 5 regular members and 1 alternate member who serve pursuant to state law and the Lancaster City Code. Members must be residents of Lancaster and must be qualified by experience, common knowledge, and / or training regarding matters of construction and the provisions of the Housing and Substandard Building Code.
Museum Advisory Board The Museum Advisory Board has 5 members appointed to 2-year terms and an alternate member appointed annually.
Parks and Recreation Advisory Board The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board consist of 5 regular members who shall serve a 2-year term and an alternate member serves a 1-year term.
Planning and Zoning Commission The Planning and Zoning Commission consists of 5 members who are appointed to 2-year staggered terms. Members must be residents of the city. A quorum of at least 3 members must be present prior to commencing a meeting.
Youth Advisory Committee
The board shall be composed of ten (10) student youth members, who shall be enrolled in a public or private accredited secondary school and who shall be fifteen (15) years of age or older, and two (2) sponsors, who shall be adults and residents of the City, and who shall be appointed to staggered terms. Appointments to the Youth Advisory Committee are made by the City Manager or their designee.
Zoning Board of Adjustment There are 5 members who are appointed to serve 2-year staggered terms and an alternate member is appointed annually. Each member must be a resident of the city.

What happens to the Grease? We will use the collected cooking oil and grease to create biodiesel or turn it into biogas for energy production.
