It takes 2-5 years for a tossed cigarette butt to break down, and ONE MILLION YEARS for a plastic bottle to break down. If you see it, pick it up. There are many benefits to having a clean community. Higher property values, community pride, sense of ownership in our community, attraction of new businesses, and a more attractive environment. Participate in our Trash Off on July 15 - more information next page!
Adopters will agree to a minimum of a 1-year agreement, renewable upon approval.
Litter pick-up will be at a minimum of 1 time per month during the 1-year adoption period One of the pick-ups must occur on the City of Lancaster's Annual Trash-Off
The City of Lancaster will be responsible for supplying trash bags, pick up and disposal of trash bags after each group completes clean up in their adopted area.
The Adopt-a-Spot program is a joint effort between your City government and the residents to keep our rights-ofway and neighborhoods clean and beautiful.

Owning a pet is a privilege, but the benefi ts of pet ownership come with responsibilities.
Be a Responsible Pet Owner:
Avoid impulsive decisions when selecting a pet.
Select a pet that’s suited to your home and lifestyle.
Keep only the type and number of pets for which you can provide appropriate food, water, shelter, health care and companionship.
Commit to the relationship for the life of your pet(s).
Recognize that pet ownership requires an investment of time and money.
Make sure your pet receives preventive health care (vaccinations, parasite control, etc.), as well as care for any illnesses or injuries.
Provide appropriate exercise and mental stimulation.
Clean up after your pet.
Don’t allow your pet to stray or become feral.
Properly socialize and train your pet.
Limit your pet’s reproduction through spay/ neuter, containment, or managed breeding.
Obey all local ordinances, including licensing, leash requirements and noise control.
Make sure your pet is properly identifi ed (i.e., tags, microchips, or tattoos) and keep its registration up-todate.
Prepare for an emergency or disaster, including assembling an evacuation kit.
Make alternate arrangements if you can no longer provide care for your pet.
Recognize any decline in your pet’s quality of life and make timely decisions in consultation with a veterinarian.

Program Steps: Program Steps:
Citizen contacts City and asks to participate in the Cost Share program.
If funds for the current fiscal year are not available, the citizen's name is added to a group list for the following year. When funding for the following fiscal year becomes available, city staff will contact citizens through individual authorization letters, requesting a response indicating interest in continuing with the program.
For each positive response, city staff visits the property and assesses the sidewalk repair needs.
City staff sends the citizen an individual quote for the cost share, a sketch of the replacement limits and a 30-day deadline for submitting payments.
City staff then prepares a contract with the residential property owner.
The work is completed by the city and comes with a one-year warranty.
