Everyone COUNTS!
In 2020, the U.S. Census Bureau begins its once-a-decade tradition of counting every person in the United States. A census form is sent to all households in the country, with most households receiving the form in mid-March. Information collected from the census include a phone number, whether the home is owned or rented, and the number of residents in each household, including their age, gender, race/ethnicity, citizenship and relationship to one another.

Individual responses to the census are securely collected and not shared with the public or federal agencies for 72 years. About the Census Every 10 years, the U.S. Census Bureau does a census to count the number of people living in the United States. The first U.S. census was in 1790. Data collected by the decennial census determines the number of seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives. Lancaster Municipal Court Municipal Courts Week Join municipal courts, city councils, and communities throughout Texas in showing appreciation for the dedicated municipal judges, court clerks, court administrators, prosecutors, bailiffs, and warrant officers who comprise the Texas municipal courts from November 4-8, 2019. Municipal Court Week is a great time to not only recognize how much municipal courts do, but to share with the public the important role that local courts and their personnel play in the criminal justice system and the larger community.

Recycling is picked up ONCE a week with trash pickup. Everything within the BLUE cart must be recyclable materials.
If at any time you do not comply within the above mentioned guidelines, your address will be documented as NO PICK UP for that week’s collection.
Place all trash items out no later than 7:00 a.m. for pickup between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on your service days. Please ensure the trash receptacles and the recycle cart are separated by at least three (3) feet, and three (3) feet away from obstacles such as mailboxes, cars, fences, gas meters, and drainage ditches. Please ensure there is a 16-foot clearance above your cart. Postion trash cart with the wheels toward the residence.
We provide ASSISTANCE If you are physically unable to roll your cart or take your
recycling cart to your pickup location, help is available. Disabled individuals may qualify for a manual trash collection by submitting a manual collection form available at City Hall along with a Doctor’s note stating your need for special assistance. This special assistance program allows the driver to get out of the waste truck and pickup the trash/recycling cart from your property without it being placed by the curb.

Reduce waste while cooking for the Holidays Nothing brings families together like cooking for the holidays! Whether you're steaming tamales, wrapping spring rolls, or frying a whole turkey, holiday cooking fills our hearts and bellies with something worth savoring. With all that yummy goodness comes several opportunities to dispose of waste and use resources wisely. As you're preparing for holiday cooking, keep the following ideas in mind: • Buy local. Food produced close to where you live travels less to get to you, reducing emissions. Check out a local farmers market to buy directly from local farmers or check packaging in supermarkets for the region of origin. • Avoid excess packaging. The best way to reduce waste is at the source, so choose products that use less plastic, foam, and cardboard in presentation. Recycle or reuse packaging whenever possible. • Don't pour fats, oils, or grease down the drain! This includes frying oil, butter, and leftover grease. Pour larger amounts of leftover oils into a sealable container you can throw into the trash when full. Wipe greasy items with disposable towels and throw them in the trash. • Save leftovers. Rescue perfectly good food from the landfill by enjoying leftover ingredients as-is, or re-imagine them as a sandwich, soup stock, or stir-fry. Some even say that certain foods are better after being in the fridge for a day, but that’s up to you. • Compost the scraps. Avoid putting items like potato peels, egg shells, corn cobs, and many more in landfills by starting a compost pile.
