Gym & Fitness Room Fees FEES ARE FOR FITNESS AND GYMNASIUM ACTIVITIES ONLY, CLASS FEES ARE SEPARATE Established in 1983, Kelly Recreation Complex has been providing recreation opportunities to the community of Lakeland for over 25 years. This facility houses an expansive cardio theatre, multilevel fitness area, several classrooms, as well as a 12,000 square

foot gymnasium. For those seeking outdoor recreation, eight lighted tennis courts are also available. This spacious facility provides the residents of Lakeland access to a diverse selection of recreation activities.

ACTIVITY PASS (Semi-Annual or Annual Pass) Covers Weight Rooms, Cardio Rooms, Open Swim, Lap Swim, Open Tennis and any Health and Fitness Class with the .

Registration at the Kelly Recreation Complex is required for all activities and classes. Due to limited enrollment, pre-registration and pre-payment is recommended and sometimes required for classes.

Online registration is available for most classes. See page 5 for details.

Ages 14-59 (Individual) $200/$360 Ages 60 and up (individual) $170/$300 Family (Two adults 59 years and younger living in same household plus any legal dependents) $450/$800.

All guests must check in upon entering the Kelly Recreation Complex and sign a waiver of liability to participate.

User Check-in: All users must check in before being permitted to use the fitness areas and gymnasium.

New users will be required to register in the participant program and will be issued an identification tag. Lost ID tags are subject to a $1 replacement fee.

A high-impact cardio-fight fitness program.

It incorporates fight routines, free weights, resistance training and cardio into a highenergy motivational hour! Participants should wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes. In addition, the admission fee paid for activities and classes does not include access to the cardio room, weight rooms or any other ongoing activities. This access may be gained by paying a separate fee.

The minimum age requirement is 15 years old. Participants 12-14 years of age may work out if accompanied by a parent or guardian, 18 years and older. Anyone under the age of 12 cannot use the fitness rooms due to insurance requirements. All participants are encouraged to consult a physician before beginning any exercise program.

Co-Ed Cardio Room: Work out in our cardio room featuring Cardio Theatre and Precor & Track Master machines such as cross trainers, upright & recumbent bikes, steppers, treadmills, rowers and more!

The theatre consists of 8 flat screen televisions on different stations for your entertainment. Standard 3.5 mm headphones are required for the audio. Participants may bring their own headphones or purchase a pair for $5 at the front desk.

Co-Ed Weight Room: Top quality Magnum weight machines, including leg extension, leg sled, cablecross over, biceps, chest press, free-weight stations and more.

Yogalates Yoga balances, harmonizes, purifies and strengthens the body, mind and soul.

This Pilates style builds strength, increases flexibility and promotes inner peace. These exercises blend breathing and movement in accessible and enjoyable routines. Wear loose, comfortable clothing.

— Pickleball A fun game that’s played on a badminton court with the net lowered to 34” at the center. It is played with a perforated plastic ball (similar to a whiffle ball) and wood or composite paddles. It is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fastpaced, competitive game for experienced players. New players are always welcome.

Manners and Etiquette Today

Medieval Dance

A fun, hands-on, interactive class designed to enhance your self-confidence and improve your people skills. Learn how to meet and greet people, the formula for a proper introduction, the importance of eye contact and body language, the use of conversational clues and verbal padding, and dining etiquette. The class will include seven one hour sessions with lectures, discussions, role play scenarios and the basics of social dancing.

— Pre-Ballet Dance Play (Ages 3-5) Teaching creative play and socialization through dance movements, the child learns poise and balance through stretching and breathing. Dancers learn direction, grace, poise, tempo and how to work as a group.

They learn isolation by focusing on one part of the body. These can be basic movements to an adult, but a child can have difficulty coordinating, rhythm and tempo.

The Beerman Family Tennis Complex, located at Edgewood Park, has 18 lighted hard surface tennis courts and two three-wall racquetball courts. Edgewood Park also has an ADA Accessible playground area, Common Ground. The complex is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm. Saturday and Sunday the courts will close at the same time as Common Ground Playground. Typically at 6 p.m. during the winter months and 8 p.m. during the summer months.

Coleman-Bush Building History

The Coleman-Bush Building was designed to be a multipurpose facility for the social, economic, health, cultural, recreational and educational needs of the growing community. Construction began on the originally-named Northwest Community Center in 1974.

In October of 1980, it was officially renamed the ColemanBush Building. It was named after two gentlemen who were prominent members of the community. Charles A. Coleman was a Lakeland Commissioner from 1974 until 1978. He also served as mayor pro term in 1976 and mayor in 1977. Gow M. Bush was a well known physician. They were both active and involved in local civic affairs.

This building has proven to be an important asset to the community and has continued to fulfill the objective set up years ago. It has provided office space for lease by non-profit organizations and meeting space for civic groups. Social events enhance the quality of the community life, so it is only fitting that the ColemanBush Building, a community cornerstone, hosts these events, as well. It also provides leisure time programming for the city’s residents. The City of Lakeland Neighborhood Services & Housing Division replaced the rental suites and NAACP also utilize the facility.

Lakeland Community Theatre’s home is the 390 seat Lake Mirror Theater which has provided the Lakeland community with live theater productions for more than 30 years.
