FALL 2019/WINTER 2020

MAYOR'S MESSAGE As this year comes closer to an end (already?!?!), I want to thank my people for the amazing privilege to serve as Mayor during such a pivotal and eventful year. Our residents should be proud for many reasons. Whether we consider the Super Bloom that attracted thousands from around the world to the interruptions caused by the City starting and completing several critical infrastructure projects, our citizens have demonstrated that they are resilient and respectful. We are grateful for your input, patience, and understanding as we all work together to make Lake Elsinore a world-class city. Change is never easy. This year, the City has been hard at work on many projects that offer residents more ways to go out and create great memories. In June, we celebrated the completion of our third, most extreme skate park yet – McVicker Canyon Skate Park. Then, we finally were able to open our fully rehabilitated campground, now known as Launch Pointe. It is the ultimate lake destination resort and offers residents and visitors a first class amenity to launch their next adventure. Right now, we are working on numerous roadway improvements, sidewalk and bike lane projects throughout the City. Soon we will celebrate the completion of our 20th public park. There are so many projects underway around the City that it is difficult to mention them all. Heading into this fall/winter season, I encourage you to get out and enjoy the special events and unique activities taking place right here in our community including the Howl-O-Ween Spooktacular, 51st Lake Elsinore Grand Prix, Veterans Day Observance Ceremony, Winterfest or the Turkey Trot and Santa Dash to stay fit and healthy this holiday season. As a person who grew up in Lake Elsinore, I remember when we used to say that there was nothing to do here. Today our parks are filled with unique equipment and trails plus there are a growing list of community activities, programming and events - something for everyone to enjoy in Lake Elsinore. Eager to learn more about what we are working on behind the scenes? Join me on October 10th for our 2019 State of the City Address or tune in live on Facebook. Find out more at www.lake-elsinore.org/SOC2019. I’ll be rounding out my second term as Mayor soon. It has been a dream come true to serve the people of Lake Elsinore. We never know what tomorrow will bring, so I want to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude for allowing me to contribute and make our City a better place to live. Sincerely, Steve Manos, Mayor

Dear Neighbor, Here in Lake Elsinore, we are continually working towards maintaining the quality of life that makes Lake Elsinore a great place to live, work and play. In a Community Issues Survey conducted this year, residents told us that they are satisfied with their quality of life, but are still concerned about essential City programs such as public safety and public works services. Residents identified local priorities that they would like the City to continue to address, including: • fixing streets and repairing potholes, • reducing gang activity drug-related crimes, • providing quick responses to 9-1-1 emergencies, • addressing homelessness, • improving fire protection and paramedic services, • keeping public areas clean and free of graffiti, and • providing law enforcement services including neighborhood patrols, crime prevention and investigations. As you’ve probably seen by the road work occurring around the City, the City strives to maintain our streets and roads, but there are still many of our local streets that have not been repaired or resurfaced in 20 years due to a shortage of funding. Fixing potholes and repaving our streets was identified by residents as a top priority and we agree Furthermore, fast emergency response times for 9-1-1 calls are critical for saving lives, and the City seeks to ensure that we have enough law enforcement officers, firefighters and paramedics to respond quickly to 9-1-1 emergencies. In order to expand the conversation and make sure every resident has a voice, we’re launching Let’s Talk Lake Elsinore – a community survey to hear YOUR feedback on City service needs and priorities. Please take a moment to share your feedback and complete a survey online at www.lake-elsinore.org/letstalk. Thank you to those that have taken the time to share your perspectives! If you are part of a community group or organization that would like to receive a presentation on Let’s Talk Lake Elsinore, please reach out to the City Manager’s Office at (951) 674-3124 ext. 204 or pio@lake-elsinore.org. Sincerely, Grant Yates, City Manager

FILMING IN LAKE ELSINORE City of Lake Elsinore is booming with filming inquiries! Lake Elsinore is an ideal backdrop for television, commercial, and film production due to its “Dream Extreme lifestyle and climate for motion picture and television filming. Unless you are filming in a licensed film studio, a valid Film Permit issued by the City of Lake Elsinore Community Services Department is required for all shoots on public and private property. Even if the location is a private residence or business, a Film Permit is required. If the venue is outside of the City of Lake Elsinore city limits, a Riverside County permit is needed, rather than a City of Lake Elsinore Permit.
