This is by far my favorite time of year here in Lake Elsinore. As temperatures rise, the community comes alive with activities and events, not to mention the constant rumbling of boats on our beautiful 3,000-acre lake.

Look inside our newly redesigned activity guide. There are so many things taking place in our community. Almost every weekend there is something for you and your family to take part in. Have you participated in a recreational class? Or, come to a community event? I challenge every resident in the City to come out this spring and summer to take part in at least one of the many activities we are offering.

Over the last several years, the City has made tremendous progress in our pursuit to become the ultimate destination where all can live, work, play, build future and fulfill dreams. This summer, look out for some of our latest projects aimed at improving our community and encouraging economic growth and prosperity. Projects to note include the ongoing rehabilitation of the City’s campground, a new McVicker Canyon Skate Park, major roadway improvements along critical corridors including Central Avenue, Gunnerson Avenue, Main Street and Railroad Canyon Road, and a new, much-needed parking lot in our Historic Downtown. And, these are just some of the projects.

We are in a transition. We are growing rapidly and welcoming hundreds of new residents, businesses, and visitors every single day. But, at the same time, we are the second oldest City in Riverside County. Incorporated in 1888, this year the City will celebrate its 130th anniversary. Join us to officially recognize our birthday at our first ever – Day Downtown event.

This event is designed to attract everyone to come down and take part in a variety of activities in our one-of-a-kind downtown. Much like a tree, the City has strong, established roots that can feed and nourish the community as we grow and adapt to today’s changing landscape. Lake Elsinore’s legacy is built on a unique history filled with extreme activities and action sports.

At our core, we have always been a destination. The destination for fun, for extreme lifestyles, for action sports and so much more. We are the place to go to push the boundaries, to question the norms and explore the impossible. The place to Dream Extreme.

This year, I resolve to preserve these traditions while inviting opportunities that embrace our heritage and elevate the entire community. I am committed to be engaged, a good listener, genuine, focused, and innovative while remembering to still have fun in my role to make Lake Elsinore the place we can all be proud to call home.

Celebrating 4th of July in Lake Elsinore NEW! Party in the Park

Do you have a boat (with proper night lights) and want to experience the Fireworks show while on the Lake?

Bring the whole family out for a morning of family-friendly activities. This event will feature a car show, kid fun zone, vendors, and music. The morning will start out with our 1st Annual Kid's Bike Parade, where children can decorate their bikes, trails, wagons and ride with pride in a parade around the park. The City will have decorating supplies available for children who would like to participate.

Fireworks spectacular The Fireworks show will begin at 9:00 p.m. shooting off from the T-Peninsula! The show will be paired with a Sky Concert which will be synchronized to KOLA's Radio Station (99.9 FM).

La Laguna Resort and Boat Launch is currently selling Night Boating Pass for July 4th to watch the City of Lake Elsinore Annual Fireworks Spectacular on your boat or pontoon! Passes are $10 per vessel (in addition to the Daily Lake Use Pass $10 and the Daily Launch Pass $10), but the experience of watching this incredible show from the water is PRICELESS! Bring the kids to our new full-day camp to keep their minds and bodies active while they are home from school.

this camp will operate during LEUSD summer break, June thru August, for kindergarten graduates, age 5 thRU 14 years old.

Summer day camp features a wide variety of themed recreation activities. $135 per week note: camp fees include a camp t-shirt, lunch, weekly treats, weekly excursions, crafts & much more.

Refund/Program Withdrawal Policy

Refund/Withdrawal requests will be assessed a $5.00 fee. Requests must be made via email or in person at the Lake Community Center.

Refunds will not be granted after the second class date. Any classes that have passed at the time of the refund request will be deducted from the refund total.

For classes noted as "non-refundable", there will be no monies refunded.

Payment must be made prior to first class and at time of registration via cash, check, or credit/ debit card.

Community information Stormwater Pollution Many City residents are unaware of the stormwater pollution problem and don’t realize that storm drains connect to the local waterways, so whatever ends up in the storm drains ends up in our rivers, lakes, and streams, much of it untreated.

What can you do? Throughout the year pollutants such as motor oil, antifreeze, trash, and pet waste build up on streets and parking lots. When it rains, the rainwater washes these pollutants into the storm drain. Even common activities such as overwatering lawns and landscaped areas, car washing and hosing down driveways, or pet waste droppings cause pollutants to make their way into the storm drain. What Can You Do? Before you throw something away or clean outside areas, ask yourself, will the waste end up in the storm drain? If the answer is yes, we recommend you: • Use dry cleanup methods on motor oil, grease, antifreeze etc. (kitty litter, baking soda, absorbents, sweep, rags); • Stop vehicle drips – fix them or use drip pans or absorbent beneath your vehicle. Clean up drips immediately; • Direct water runoff to landscape/grassy areas, including pool flushing and filter cleaning; • Use bio-degradable cleaners, and • Dispose of cleaners, paints, yard care products, and household chemicals at the City Household Hazardous Waste drop-off.

Flood Damage Prevention Did you know Lake Elsinore is the largest natural lake in Southern California? Adjacent to the Lake, streams, and channels in the City are natural beneficial low-lying areas know as floodplains and floodways. These areas are used to store and discharge flood waters and have a one-in-100 chance of becoming flooded in any year. Sources of flood waters include Arroyo del Toro, Outlet Channel, Leach Canyon, and Lime Street Channels, the Lake, McVicker Canyon, Ortega Wash and Channel, Rice Canyon, San Jacinto River, Temescal Wash, and Wasson Canyon Creek. The chance for flooding is greatest from October through April during the rainy season.

To help prevent flood damage, the City is always looking for ways to help prevent flood damage. The City has adopted zoning, building codes, and ordinances that protect and preserve flood storage areas in the City and require review of development projects for compliance with City, State, and Federal floodplain regulations. The regulations require new construction and improvements or significant reconstruction of an existing structure to build using flood safety measures.

For example, City Ordinance 1105 requires a minimum 1267 ground floor elevation for structures in the area around the Lake; Ordinance 1208 requires the ground floor elevation to be a minimum of 2 feet above the flood elevation for all other properties in FEMA mapped special flood hazard areas.

What can you do to help prevent flood damage? 1) Newer homes are constructed to drain to the street; do not alter the existing drainage pattern without providing another method to drain the lot. For older homes, grade your yard to force rain water to the street; 2) Build responsibly – get a permit and follow regulations and guidelines for flood damage prevention; 3) Pick up yard waste and dispose of it properly; do not leave it in the street or gutter to clog storm drains; 4) In advance of rain events, place sandbags to detour rain water away from your property and structures (available for free at the Public Works Yard, 521 Langstaff Street); and 5) When it rains, if you see any flooding, please contact the Public Works Department at 951-674-5170.

Household Hazardous Waste Each month, the City of Lake Elsinore partners with the County of Riverside to offer hazardous waste and e-waste disposal at no cost to Lake Elsinore residents. Collections are held on the first Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Public Works Yard located at 521 N. Langstaff. Restrictions apply a chemical load of 15 gallons or 125 pounds per transport.

NO business waste allowed. All paints, bleaches, cleaners, pesticides, etc. are accepted. Liquid waste must be in sealed, marked containers. Computer towers, computer monitors, microwaves, TV’s, radios, fluorescent lighting, light bulbs, and batteries are all accepted e-waste products. For more information, please call 951-674-5170.
