Random Acts of Christmas Kindness

You’ve been RACK’ed!

Help us deliver smiles this Christmas

We’re making kindness count this Christmas, through our Random Act of Christmas Kindness (RACK) cards.

Visit your local branch, write a message on one of our You’ve Been RACK’ed cards and drop it into our special library post boxes. We will distribute the cards to residents of aged care facilities within the City, and to members of the community who attend the annual Joondalup Christmas Lunch.

Letters to Santa

We’re super excited to announce that Joondalup Libraries has again teamed up with Santa himself to get your letters to him super quick!

Visit your local branch, write your letter to Santa, and drop it into our special library post boxes. Thanks to our express arrangement with the North Pole, your letters will zoom straight to Santa’s workshop!

We’ve asked Santa to post a special letter back to you too, so make sure you include your address so his elves know where to go!

Books on Wheels turns 50

Our Books on Wheels service has been providing books and other library resources to those unable to physically access the library for 50 years. Starting in 1975, this awesome service is run by a team of two staff members and several volunteers. The team visit individual homes and aged care facilities every fortnight with a fresh supply of books selected for each individual’s specific interests.

Thank you to our current and former staff and volunteers for your involvement in this vital community service.

If you know someone who is unable to visit their City of Joondalup library and would enjoy a personalised selection of books delivered to their door every fortnight, please email books.onwheels@joondalup.wa.gov.au or call 9400 4755.

Step into Volunteering

Volunteer Joondalup - Resource Centre Christmas closure. We wish you a merry Christmas and a wonderful 2026. The Volunteer Resource Centre will be closed from Friday 19 DecemberWednesday 14 January.

School holiday hours are 10am-2pm on Wednesday 14, 21 and 28 January. Regular hours commence on 3 February, Tuesday to Thursday, 10am-2pm and Saturday 9.30am-12.30pm.

To tie in with International Day of People with Disability on Wednesday 3 December, City of Joondalup Libraries are running story time sessions that celebrate and support people with disability. Join Inclusion Story Time at the libraries, featuring books that teach children about differences in a positive way.

Some awesome WA libraries have banded together to create LibraryCraft, a free Minecraft server that is available to WA kids aged 7-17 years. LibraryCraft is a free and safe Minecraft server supported by libraries across WA.

The City of Joondalup hosts a monthly dementia support café in partnership with Forget-Me-Not, for those living with memory loss, their carers and loved ones. Register your attendance by calling 9400 4790.

This is a free service to the community and no appointment is necessary. If you need certified copies of documents, bring the original and the copies to be signed. Some documents require a second witness so please bring someone with you if this is the case.
