Welcome to your new monthly guide to special events at City

of Joondalup Libraries.

Our libraries are at the heart of the community. They are welcoming spaces where people of all ages can come together to learn, share and grow.

This month’s events include information sessions on gardening, endometriosis and planning a funeral and several Meet the Author events. For families with young children, Stories in the Park starts on Tuesday 3 March and runs for four weeks at four of the City’s parks.

Join us for the opportunity to learn something new, meet new people and engage in your community.

Our libraries also hold many regular programs, clubs and groups for all ages and interests. From Story time and Rhyme time for little ones to book clubs, craft groups and tech help for adults, there’s something for everyone. Bus departs from Whitford Library at 9am.

Art Workshop at Connolly Community Centre

Digital Drop-In – Introduction to eResources

Friday 6 March, 10-11am | Woodvale Library

Learn how to use the library app, eBooks, audiobooks and digital magazines, anytime, anywhere. This session is perfect for those with a busy lifestyle and book lovers on the go.

Discovery Session – Nagomi Art Workshop

Tuesday 10 March, 2-3pm | Woodvale Library

Join us for a relaxing and creative pastel art workshop where participants will learn to create harmonious, soft-coloured artworks using professional pastel techniques. Suitable for all skill levels.

Community Session – Endometriosis

Wednesday 11 March, 6-7pm | Whitford Library

March is Endometriosis Awareness Month. Join Luma to explore effective management strategies for this condition that affects one in nine women. You will learn everything from medical to lifestyle changes and be pointed towards vital support networks.

An Introduction to Family History

Saturday 14 March, 10am-12pm

Joondalup Library – Local History

This two-hour seminar will get enthusiastic researchers started on the right path. Participants will learn how to begin researching their family tree and explore useful family history resources. Each participant will receive the workbook Tracing your family tree: a beginner’s guide. Cost $10. Book and pay online.

Community Session – rethink funerals

Tuesday 17 March, 10-11am | Joondalup Library

The best time to talk about death is when we are living - long before grief strikes.

By making funeral arrangements in advance, you take the burden off your loved ones, save money and ensure your wishes are respected. There are many options available that can be both meaningful and cost-effective.

Libby Book Club – Franz Josef by Alan Carter

Wednesday 18 March, 7.30pm

This month’s title is now available as an eBook and audiobook via the Libby App. The Book Club event includes a live author chat and is hosted by David Allan-Petale.

Community Session –Advanced care planning

We all want to have a say in what happens in the last part of our lives. By making plans that cover your future care, lifestyle, health and finances, you’re not only working out what you want, you are also making things easier on those around you.

Discovery SessionPortuguese Coastal Camino

Wednesday 25 March, 6-7pm | Whitford Library

There are many beautiful coastal walks within the Portuguese Camino. Join Camino walker David, as he shares his experiences and tips for planning your own walk along the route from Porto to Santiago de Compostela. Cost $5. Book and pay online.

Discovery Session –

The occasional gardener

Saturday 28 March, 9.30-10.30am Duncraig Library

Learn simple, time-saving home garden tips aimed at the occasional gardener – no green thumb required. Boost confidence around soil health, plant health, water efficiency and pruning tools in a fun and informative environment giving a base for participants to develop their gardening skills, with further personal discovery.

Step into Volunteering

Tuesday 31 March, 10am-12pm | Joondalup Library

Do you want to meet new people, share your skills or make a difference in the community? Then come along to a free Step into Volunteering session. This session includes a mini expo for the City of Joondalup Friends groups. No cost. Register online.

If you and your children enjoy the colours of autumn, join us under the trees for story time at some of our favourite local parks. Suitable for families with children aged 2-4 years.

Monday 9 March, 10am and 11.30am Whitford Library

Join the Spare Parts Puppet Theatre for two special performative book readings and puppetry events featuring Aaron Blabey’s much-loved book The Return of Thelma the Unicorn. Laugh along as the performers bring this story to life through the art of puppetry, followed by a series of fun creative play activities including making your own puppet to take home.

The golden feather hunt – Scribblers Festival 3 March – 8 May | City of Joondalup Libraries

As part of the 2026 Scribblers Festival for children, there will be thousands of feather-shaped bookmarks hidden in public libraries all over Western Australia. Head into any of our libraries and see if you can find one of four different kinds of feathers, with a variety of prizes to be won.

Harmony Week story time

Let’s celebrate our vibrant multicultural community this Harmony Week by exploring other cultures through stories, songs and activities at our regular story time sessions. Suitable for ages 2-4 years.

Autumn school holiday program

Suitable for ages 5-12 years

The April school holiday program at Joondalup Libraries is packed with activities that will inspire creativity and encourage curiosity! Cost $5 per child, per activity. Book and pay online. Bookings open on Monday 23 March at 9am.

Regular children’s programs

At Joondalup Libraries, we believe every story is a seed that helps little minds grow. Our regular children’s programs, like Story Time and Rhyme Time, create a gentle, welcoming space where families can connect, laugh and learn together. Through songs, rhymes and delightful tales, we nurture early literacy skills and spark a lifelong love of reading and language. These moments aren’t just fun, they’re building blocks for your child’s future.

All Joondalup Libraries will be closed on Friday 3, Sunday 4 and Monday 6 April

The April events guide will be released online and in print on Monday 16 March.

All City of Joondalup libraries also hold regular free programs, clubs and groups, including story time events for children, craft groups, art groups, book clubs and games groups for people of all ages.
